Long-Term Solutions Alternative Route To Certification (ARTC)

Bachelor’s Degree in a “Critical Needs” subject area or closely related field.• NOTE: “Native speakers of languages other than

English, who have at least a bachelor’s degree in any subject, may now qualify to teach their native language through ARTC. Non-US degrees must be appropriately translated, and candidates must meet all program requirements, including passing the Praxis II (or other equivalent test) approved by the state for world language certification in the target language.”

World Languages and ARTC Applicants must:

Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree Complete ARTC 5-course requirements:

• Child Development and Classroom Management• Reading in the Content Areas• Effective Teaching Strategies• Diversity in the Classroom• World Language Teaching Methods* (STARTALK)

Pass Praxis I and Praxis II (French, Spanish) or ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Written Proficiency Test (WPT) for all other languages

91-Day Provision “Completion of a minimum of 91 days of long-

term teaching experience in one assignment” Letter from Superintendent verifying

completion of 91 days, regular evaluations and satisfactory performance

License granted on 92nd day in a full-time position, with completion of Praxis I and Praxis II (or ACTFL OPI and WPT)

Emergency certification until 15 university credits or 225 professional development hours are completed

Master’s Degree Program track with Wilmington University (more than 15 credit hours)
