DOST-PSHS SYSTEM SCHOLARSHIP
The DOST-Philippine Science High School System is mandated to offer on a free scholarship basis a secondary course with special emphasis on subjects pertaining to the sciences with the end in view of preparing its students for a science career (Sec. 2, RA 3661).

Criteria for Eligibility for PSHS Scholarship
A graduating elementary pupil from a duly recognized school by the Department of Education, who meets the following criteria, is eligible to apply for the PSHS National Competitive Examination (NCE). He/She must:
1. belong to the upper 10% of the graduating class as certified by the School Principal, or have special aptitude in science and math as supported by the report card and letter of recommendation;

2. be a Filipino citizen with no pending application as immigrant to any foreign country; not be more than 15 years of age by June 30, ___________; (year of application)
3. be in good health and fit to undergo rigorous academic program;
4. be of good moral character; and

PSHS Scholarship Requirements
1. Fully accomplished Application Form in duplicate copies
2. Two (2) identical recent 1x1 ID pictures
3. Non-refundable test fee – for private schools –P100
for public schools –Free
4. Copy of report card (Grade V or 1st grading in Grade VI) and letter of
recommendation if the applicant does not belong to the upper 10% of
the current graduating class.
PSHS Scholarship Screening Process
•Only one test, a Scholastic Aptitude Test (known as National Competitive Examination) will be administered which is designed to measure Scientific Ability, Quantitative Ability, Abstract Reasoning and Verbal.
How to apply for the PSHS scholarship?
• Secure application forms.
• Submit duly accomplished application forms with documentary requirements and corresponding test fee to DOST XII Regional Office, ORG Compound, Cotabato City or to any of the nearest Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTCs).

DOST-SEI UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) offers two (2) scholarship programs for undergraduates: the RA 7687 and Merit Scholarships.
Republic Act No. 7687
– Also known as the Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994
– An act instituting a science and technology scholarship program and other purposes
The RA 7687 scholarship is awarded to qualified applicants to talented and deserving students whose families' socio-economic status do not exceed the set cut-off values of certain indicators.
Qualifiers must pursue priority fields of study in the basic sciences, engineering, other applied sciences and science and mathematics teaching.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE COURSES
The DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program, formerly known as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship, begun in 1958.
The Merit Scholarship, on the other hand, is awarded to qualified applicants regardless of their families’ socio-economic status.
Merit scholars pursue priority courses in the basic sciences, engineering, other applied sciences and science and mathematics teaching at identified universities.

a) An awardee must seek admission and enroll at any of the:
a.1 State universities and colleges.
a.2 Tertiary institutions identified as Centers of Excellence or Centers of Development by CHED for the priority courses.
a.3 DOST-SEI identified network institutions.
He/She should pass the qualifying examination for admission to the university where he/she plans to enroll in.
b) An awardee shall comply with the terms of the Scholarship Agreement to be entered into between himself/herself, parents or legal guardian and the DOST-SEI.

c) After signing the Scholarship Agreement, the awardee’s name shall be included in the lists of scholars needing clearance from DOST-SEI forwarded to the appropriate government agencies for tracking purposes.
d) An awardee shall maintain the grade requirements of the scholarship.
e) Upon completion of his/her course, an awardee shall serve in the country, preferably in his/her home region, on full-time basis along his/her field of training for a minimum period equivalent to the length of time he/she enjoyed the scholarship.

The DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination is an aptitude test designed to measure abilities that determine academic and professional success in science, mathematics and engineering.

An applicant must:
• be a Filipino citizen;
• not be more than 45 years old at the time of application;
• be in good health condition;
• pass the admission requirements for graduate studies at any of the NSC member-universities ; and
• pass the interview and other screening procedures.

ASTHRDP Incentive
The remaining stipends shall be given to a scholar who completes his/her degree earlier than the prescribed period of study.
Terms of the ASTHRDP Scholarship Award
1. The scholarship award shall be for full-time graduate studies for the completion of a Master’s/PhD degree in any of the DOST identified priority fields.
2. The scholar must not be employed or practicing his/her profession while on scholarship; he/she must secure approval for official leave of absence, if employed.
3. The awardee shall execute a Scholarship Agreement with DOST.
4. Evaluation of the academic performance of the scholar based on established policies shall be done to determine the scholarship status every semester or term.
5. A service obligation to be rendered in the Philippines shall be required of the scholar after finishing the MS/PhD degree, i.e. one year for every year of scholarship.
6. Refund of scholarship grant with interest shall be required of the scholar for non-completion of his/her graduate program and failure to comply with the service obligation.

ENGINEERING RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT FOR TECHNOLOGY (ERDT)
The Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT) is a consortium of eight member universities in the country that offers master’s and doctoral degrees in various engineering fields. This consortium is composed of De La Salle University (DLSU), Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT), Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), Mindanao State University—Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), University of San Carlos (USC), Central Luzon State University (CLSU), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), and University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD).
ERDT Goals
ERDT was created to:
• Implement high impact research agenda that are aligned with the National Science and Technology Plan (NSTP) and Medium Term Philippine Development Plan (MTPDP)
• Attain a critical mass of graduates with Master’s and PhD degrees
• Upgrade the qualifications of practicing engineers
• Upgrade the quality of engineering colleges and make engineering graduate education accessible

Terms of the Scholarship Award
An awardee shall:
1. enroll in the required academic load and study full-time in any of the identified training institutions;
2. maintain a grade point average required by the Graduate School of the university and comply with the university’s academic requirements to remain in the scholarship program;
3. comply with the terms and conditions of the Scholarship Contract to be entered into among himself/herself, the Training Institution, and DOST-SEI;
4. render service in the Philippines upon completion of his/her degree along his/her field of specialization equivalent to the length of time he/she enjoyed the scholarship;
5. refund the scholarship grant with 12% interest for non-completion of the program and/or failure to comply with the service obligation.
6. receive the remaining stipends to be released as incentive if he/she completes his/her degree program earlier than the prescribed period.

The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute shall award a 3/6-year scholarship grant to qualified science and mathematics faculty of Teacher Education Institutions (TEI’s) to pursue in PhD in Science/Mathematics Education with major in any of the following priority fields of specialization:

SETUP-DATBED PROGRAM
•aims to develop entrepreneurial competencies among students, young professionals and out of school youths in selected academic institutions and non-governmental organizations while at the same time creating income generating projects for the involved institutions. The Program will function as feeder program under DOST's SET-UP in accelerating the establishment of small-scale technology-based enterprises in the countryside.
SETUP-DATBED Program Objectives – Stage 1
• Stimulate the development of entrepreneurial curriculum and technology business incubation (TBI) among participating schools/ organizations;
• Enhance entrepreneurial capabilities among students, young professionals and out-of-school youths;
• Provide access to funds, facilities and technologies to
• establish technology-based enterprises; and
• Create new breed of entrepreneurs from DATBED-recipients.
• Create new breed of full-time entrepreneurs from DATBED-graduate recipients; and

Who may avail SETUP-DATBED?
• Academic Institutions must:
1. Be located or providing services to a depressed province;
2. Offer tertiary science and technology courses and entrepreneurship development program;
3. Have a student-faculty ratio of at most 25:1 in the S&T courses and entrepreneurship development program; and
4. Have existing facilities/resources that are available for use of the proposed technology-based projects.
Who may avail SETUP-DATBED?
• Non Governmental Organizations must:
1. Have an existing or completed youth development programs/ activities;
2. Have an approved board resolution indicating interest to be accredited under the program;
3. Have a core team of advisers and program management support; and
4. Be registered at SEC or CDA.
How to avail of the SETUP-DATBED Support?
Academic Institutions/Non-Governmental Organizations must submit a comprehensive implementing plan for SETUP-DATBED endorsed by the DOST Regional Office to DOST-TAPI. The plan should include:
• Organization of a core team of advisers;
• Fund management plan;
• Project management plan;
• Repayment scheme for recipients;
• Selection scheme for recipients;
• Project monitoring scheme; and
• Loan administration and profit-sharing mechanism.
