DID YOU KNOW? The importance of making rules As parents, we want our children to see us as their allies and teachers, not just the people who lay down the law. But sometimes, rules are more effective — rules are simple and easy to remember, and leave no room for error. When it comes to your child’s safety, rules are critical. And when it comes to your child’s body, rules can help them understand how to protect themselves from predators. Establishing rules about who can see or touch their bodies is an important part of preventing child sexual abuse. For more information, request a copy of the VIRTUS® article “Sometimes a rule is more effective than a discussion” from http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx. ¿SABE USTED?

LAID TO REST IN OUR CATHEDRAL MAUSOLEUM IN DECEMBER 2019

Manuel Camomot Aranas Magdalena Delapaz Reyes John Francis Escobar Fideluz Jurado Dizon Mauro Banzon Paguio Maria Milagros Navas Joswer C. Dela Merced

May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

We see the need. We respond. This is the story of our faith.

Our parishes and schools desire to be the center of community life, reaching out to those in our midst. They work to create moments for evangelization. However, some struggle to keep the lights on. Vibrant ministries, crucial repairs and operating expenses are supplemented by generous donations. You are the answer to their needs! For over 27 years you have responded to the call to keep our story of faith alive. Together with thousands of Catholics across the Archdiocese, your gifts have enabled our poorest communities to thrive! The Together in Mission campaign is an opportunity for people across the Archdiocese to join together - as one united voice. Thousands of men and women just like you make a sustainable monthly commitment because they believe in the hope that will be given through classrooms, from pulpits, on the streets and through the sacraments. Will you join the generosity of others in our community? If you have made a gift in the past, a letter should arrive in your home asking you to renew your support. You can return that pledge card via mail or make your pledge at ourmissionla.org/give.

Commitment Sunday is February 16. Thank you for your generosity.

The first month of the year is already behind us. How are your New Year’s resolutions coming? If your resolutions included improving your life, making the world a better place, helping others, how about volunteering at the Cathedral?

We all have skills and talents we can share with our brothers and sisters, and there are many opportunities to serve at the Cathedral that will match those gifts. If you would like to explore these opportunities, contact Cari Hilger at (213) 680-5215 or [email protected]. God bless and Happy 2020!
