Easter is always in spring on the Sunday after the first full moon following March 21 .
It is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus.
This year it will be celebrated on April 12th.
-
Easter is a christian holiday.
Religious people celebrate by going to church.
In the United States, students miss only one day of school for Easter. Some cities have small parades, too.
-
Many families prepare a large meal on this special day, especially ham dinners.
Hot crossed buns are a popular dessert.
-
People like to wear new clothes on Easter.
Females often wear dresses with floral prints and pretty hats.
-
Children color eggs by dipping them in cups of dye.
After they color the eggs, they put them in baskets.
-
Easter baskets are filled with grass.
The grass keeps the eggs from breaking.
-
Parents hide the eggs in the backyard.
When their children wake up on Easter, they look for the eggs and put them in their Easter baskets.
-
Bunnies are baby rabbits.
Rabbits and eggs are a sign of new life.
The Easter Bunny brings eggs and candy to the children.
-
White lilies represent new life.
Daffodils are yellow and bright like the sun.
Both flowers bloom in the spring.
