VE Calendars
Passing the Baton – Supporting Vocational Education in Student Self Management
2014 • Course intakes offered every month
• High number of exceptions to VE teaching periods
• Advertised intakes with unviable numbers for classes resulting in cancelations,
timetable changes and unhappy students
2015 • Two main advertised course intakes in 2015
• 31 teaching periods to maximise flexibility
• Minimal exceptions • More stable curriculum and therefore student satisfaction

Student Study Plans
Passing the Baton – Supporting Vocational Education in Student Self Management
• What is a study plan? A list of all units a student will undertake throughout their
study to obtain a qualification
• How do students get a study plan? At the point of course admission, students have their study
plans expanded to include all relevant unit information
• How do study plans link to course structures? A good study plan is informed by the course structure
configured in Student One
• How do study plans allow student self management? Study plans are the building blocks for students. They allow
students to select the sequence, teaching period and load of their course, by providing a holistic view of the units available
