Introduction
The technician pathways have been updated for 2019 with the
continuation of face-to-face assessments for both Maintenance
and System Technician levels. Should any technician be referred
from these assessments we will again be offering a tailored
Training Needs Analysis output for each technician detailing
which courses are required to achieve their accreditation.
We are also continuing the ‘Fast-Track’ pathway to System
Technician for any technicians who are joining our network
from another manufacturer’s programme and who hold the
equivalent of either System or Diagnostic Technician
accreditation. If a technician is from the independent sector
they can also use the fast-track pathway if they hold an IMI
accreditation for either Diagnostic or Master Technician,
otherwise they will need to begin at the Maintenance
Technician pathway.
The Diagnostic Technician pathway remains essentially the
same in content but will be more structured in terms of the
timelines of each module with a maximum of 12 months
between Initial Assessment and Final Test.

In recognition of this, and based on feedback received from you, we have made a number of improvements to the support we offer in developing your technicians.

This lists any
accreditations or
courses that must
be completed before demonstrate competencies as
the assessment
can take place.
We have removed
the prerequisites
for the Maintenance
Technician
Assessment.
This will now be a face-to-face
assessment that incorporates
both practical tasks to
well as an online knowledge
test. If a technician passes
this test they will achieve the
accreditation without the need
for any further training.
If a technician is referred from the assessment they will be
advised which course(s) they are required to attend in order to
gain the accreditation. At the end of each course the delegate
will have to complete an online test. With the successful
completion of all referred end tests the technician becomes
certified at the relevant level.
