Motivation/Values QuestionQ. What values do you think police officers should have? Why are these important?
• Act fairly, professionally and with honesty and integrity • Be a role model• Set an example to others• Determination• Resilience• Confidence• Empathy• Responsibility to comply with European Convention on Human Rights • Serve the community• Share goals with the public• Follow the statement of mission and values as an officer• Work towards the goals of the organisation• Act in a professional manner and assess own performance• Police officers act with fairness and impartiality• Do not discriminate unlawfully or unfairly
The interviewer may also ask you additional probing questions to elicit further information to help you give a full response
These values are important because:
you have a responsibility to serve the public and to also work towards the mission and goals of the
police force you are serving.
There is also an expectation from the public that police officers follow and abide by these values.
