Words from the PresidentDear New PASS Members, Returners,and Alumni,

I hope that everyone has had awonderful summer and is ready for aPASS filled school year! For those ofyou who do not know, the PilipinoAmerican Student Society wasfounded in the fall of 1991 by a groupof seven Filipino-American Visionaries,and has grown enormously since.Being an experienced incomingExecutive Board, however, we still

plan to further the development ofPASS as a student organization, andas a family that members can count on

here at MSU by implementing effectivenew ideas throughout the school year.

Because this is the first newsletter ofthe new school year, this edition willfocus on introducing the new ExecutiveBoard, displaying our goals andobjectives, and will also reveal thedates for the many upcoming events.Whether you are currently takingclasses at MSU, are off in thePhilippines, or are just working awayfrom East Lansing, PASS would verymuch appreciate it if you could takesome time out of your busy schedulesto check us out at our future events, or

Summer RecaOhio State University Pilipino Student Associ

End of the Year Banquet

First Eboard Camping Trip at Warren Dunes

PASS members began their summer with a road tr

The Ohio State University. OSUs Pilipino Student

Association celebrated the end of the year with a red

carpet themed banquet. There were cultural performa

along with games and tons of Filipino food! The night

followed up with an after party at Mozaik Modern LoIt was a great weekend to reconnect with old friends a

make new ones!

The 2012-2013 eboard decided to begin a new eboardbonding tradition: camping. The first camping trip took

place at Warren Dunes in southwest Michigan. They spent

their time on the beaches of Lake Michigan, roasting

marshmallows, and climbing dunes. It was a great

opportunity for them to get to know each other before the

year began.

Summer RecaAnnual Kalayaan Picnic

Eboard Retreat in Toronto

Once again, PASS celebrated the Philippine

ndependence Day at the annual Kalayaan picnic hosted

by the Filipino American Community Council of Michigan.

Each group was provided with some lechon to go along

with the food they brought. There were performances and

a lot of line dancing. Many members traveled to Warren

o take part in the festivities.

This years eboard wanted to do something diffe

for their retreat other than the usual meeting at the

Union, so they decided to take on Toronto! They spe

the days wandering downtown and the nights out on

town. There was even time spent planning events for

the upcoming year, of course. #PASStakesToronto
