History... PASMA GROUP Architects has been in practice since 1988

and is currently staed by ten people. The rm has enjoyed a steady

growth based on a high standard of professional service and personal

attention to clients

Nature of Practice... PASMA GROUP Architects provides full architec-

ture, MEP engineering, interior design / space planning, landscape

architecture, land planning services for new and renovated facilities.

Sta... the PASMA GROUP professional sta consists of (5) architects,

(1) interior designer and (6) cad technicians.

Services... As a full service architect / interior rm,

PASMA GROUP Architects’ comprehensive design capa-

bilities permit the rm to tailor our services to respond

to specic design requirements of this project and spe-

cialized needs of whatever the project scope.

Design Philosophy... Creative Leadership and Teamwork are the core

of the rms philosophy. A team is created by organizing representa-

tives of each discipline to work closely with you, our client, in address-

ing your specic needs. A successful PASMA GROUP design is one that

projects the desired image and serves the people who use it with

attention to both budget and schedule. A rm’s principal maintains

direct personal involvement and assumes ultimate responsibility for

client satisfaction.

Project Organization... Each team is led by an experienced project

architect who directs the various disciplines during the

design and contract process. Each project team repre-

sents a cross section of our talents and capabilities.

Listen…in order to…Learn…and then…Creatively Lead

Statement of Design Philosophy

04PA S M A G R O U P A R C H I T E C T S

We will creatively lead the project team and the design process by

clearly communicating - graphically, diagrammatically and spatially -

a thoroughly considered and well thought out design concept that is

fully informed by its program, community context, and by the essen-

tial character of the Church itself.

egocentric in nature and are therefore rooted in the individual and

his personal expression. By contrast, I have chosen to pursue my

own design philosophy and methodology from a more inclusive and

egalitarian point of view, choosing to develop a process that instead

expresses the “relationship” between the design team and the

Church organization. Our philosophy can be described by the

following:

Every project has its own voice. It speaks the values of its owner, the

hopes of its occupants, the needs of its community, the prides and

prejudices of its site, and the vision and sensitivity of its designers. The

truly great projects are those where the project’s voice is clearly heard by

all. We feel strongly that this project must be “Kingdom Driven”. We

believe that its purpose is of the highest calling and we would welcome

and appreciate the opportunity to be a critical creative member of Your

Project Team.

We will listen purposefully and intently to the voices of those who have

conceived and envisioned the project thus far.

We will learn the nature and needs of the project and the Church, as well

as those of the design team by a direct and interactive process of enquiry

and discovery. The goal will be to understand and assemble the individual

programmatic parts - the hopes, wishes, needs, and wants - into an

elegant, structured, and hopefully, simple vision which all of the

participants can begin to relate, to interact with, and ultimately to take

ownership of.

Design approaches and philosophies are as varied as the architects that

embrace them. I have been fortunate during the course of my education

and professional development to have experienced rsthand the design

philosophies and methodologies of two architects who have shaped our

profession. One espoused a design methodology which drew upon the

power of the designer’s subconscious and its ability to echo and reect

the images of one’s mind that are gathered over a lifetime. The other

embraced historical intellectualism as the primary inspiration for his

designs. While I have great admiration for the work of both of these

gentlemen and I value their inuence on me as I value their mentorship of

me, I nevertheless believe that both of these approaches are essentially
