Working together on serving our international community
SWX/WAL and USCIS• Monthly visits by a USCIS representative to
SWX Citizenship Classes. During the class a USCIS representative speaks about the naturalization process, documentations, conducts citizenship trial interviews, distributes educational materials at no cost (DVD’s, flash cards, and other).
• USCIS Open House VisitsSWX students are introduced to the USCIS facility, visit the security pass, waiting area, offices where the interviews take place. The Office Director greets the students and talks to them about the interview process and answers their questions.
• Special Citizenship CeremonyCurrently SWX/WAL works collaboratively with USCIS, US Federal District Court on organizing a Special Naturalization Ceremony that will take place at SW MultiService Center in November 2015.

• “H-E-Buddy Fun and Storytime” “H-E-Buddy Fun and Storytime” program was launched in March, 2015. The program is a series of events that are held at Walter NL every fourth Tuesday. The program is geared towards the kids (preschool - elementary school age). The activities include: storytime, crafts, HEB coloring pages, other activities. H-E-Buddy mascot is always part of this program. The theme and goal of the program is to promote healthy life style.

HEB OUTDOOR CELEBRATIONS

EDUCATION EXPO. JUNE 13, 2015WAL/ SWX Libraries hosted a special HPL Civic Engagement project, Education Expo event, on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Southwest Multi Service Center Auditorium. The Education Expo event had served as a unique platform to link enthusiastic local community leaders, local educational organizations, performing art groups and healthcare providers to promote their services and program to the Southwest community. 30 local organizations (educational, health, local language schools, day care centers) and 3 performing art groups participated in the event. More than 200 adults and children attended the event from 10:30am to 2:00 pm.
Goals and Objectives of the Event
• to promote community services to the SW area customers; • to establish the community stakeholders list;• to network and socialize with the community leaders and
organizations;• ultimately, to help improving the quality of life of the
Southwest area community members.
