Rental Car Contracts and Exposures Some things you should know . . .

Loss Damage Waiver - If at the beginning of the rental, you accept the Optional LDW, which is not insurance, you will NOT be held respon-sible for loss of or damage to the car.

Authorized Operators - Only you or someone who appears at the time of rental and signs an additional form, may drive the car. The other driver must be at least 25 years old and have a valid license. (Varies by rental company.)

Prohibited Uses - Any use of the car as prohib-ited below will breach the rental agreement and will VOID the LDW and you will be fully responsible for all damages. 1. Use of the car by anyone other than an authorized operator. 2. Intentional damage or aid in the theft of the car. 3. Operation of the car outside the U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada. 4. Operation of the car in a reckless manner.

5. Operation of the car on unpaved roads (dirt roads, beaches, etc.). 6. Leaving the car unlocked or with the keys inside. 7. Under the influence of alchohol or drugs.

Physical Damage (Mass Auto Policy) - will follow you when renting a private passen-ger auto, however it does exclude renting a pickup, UHaul, motorcycle or trailer. Also you must be in the U.S. territories, Puerto Rico or Canada. Your policy will not follow you in any other country.

Collision Damage Waiver - The decision to purchase the CDW must be made by the insured at the time of rental.

Damage to the Car - You owe for all loss or damage to the car regardless of fault, whether it is a theft, collision, vandalism or any other cause. If the vehicle is stolen and damaged be-yond repair you will pay the replacement cost, if not damaged beyond repair you will pay the repair price. You will also pay for the loss of use for reasonable downtime. You will also be responsible to pay administrative fees and expenses such as towing and storage charges. Mass Auto Policy pays ACV (actual cash value).

Credit Card Provision - check your credit card company for additional coverages and limitations.

Distractology 101

Our agency is pleased to announce that we will be hosting Distractology 101, which is sponsored by Arbella Insurance Group, from August 29, 2011 to September 5, 2011, at 560 Wilbur Avenue, Swansea, MA.

Distractology 101 is a mobile simula-tor tour designed to train and educate new drivers on the dangers of distract-ed driving. The training is 45 minutes of instructional learning behind the wheel of a simulator console. Any driver licensed 3 years or less is eligible for the free training.

It’s fun! It’s free, and participants will receive a $15. gas card.

Commercial lines office renovations complete

The commercial lines department of Partners Insurance Group recently celebrated their move into newly renovated office space locat-ed at our 560 Wilbur Avenue office in Swansea. Licensed Customer Service Representatives Maria Arruda and Helen Gagne, pictured here (l to r), continue to provide professional service to all of our commercial lines clients.
