Stability and flexibility

Traditional industrial models are falling apart while contrasts between employersand employees remain strong. More than a generation of people faces risks ofprecarious work for life and long unemployment while companies need to be evermore flexible to compete in a global market. How to combine employment andflexibility, are there best practices on welfare measures provided by companies?How to ensure personal safety and companies financial health. How to change joboften without losing compass. How to improve personal skills and stay attractive onthe Lab market.

Research, science and technology 2Research or Innovation ?

Too often results of scientific and technological research (RTD) stay within the labsor struggle to reach the market, wasting a large amount of invested resources.Yet research is paramount to good innovation, especially in a highly competitiveglobal market. New operating models to extract the full potential from research investments arecrucial for Europe to thrive .Let’s unearth together the brilliant ideas jammed in the research departments bothpublic and private and unleash their business potential.Let’s find proved best practises and healthier ways to make universities, researchlabs, innovators work with the business community and society, to effectivelybridge the gap between RTD and the Market.

sEnergy’s future is today

We cannot wait any longer for natural, economical and political reasons. New energy solutions are being sought after and developed everywhere. That’s good, but the challenge is how to bring them into everyday life of citizens,communities, business, how to adapt appliances, buildings, transportation, withoutcompromising on life quality. So it’s not only about energy production, it’s aboutenergy storage, distribution and consumption,

4Rules and free market

A paradox is stemming from the recent global economic and financial turmoil: whilederegulation contributed to trigger the crisis, even more of it is being requested torestart the economy. In fact one of the problems is lack of effective rules in thefinancial sectors and their excess combined with barriers and burdens in the realeconomy.How to combine growth and consumers/citizens’ protection. How to grant creditaccess to companies and improve controls on banks. How to with administrativesimplification and with transparent rules protecting citizens as taxpayers and saversin the European framework.

Knowledge means growth

Knowing one’s own strengths and weaknesses, and therefore being open to the others,observe, and apprehend. Visiting and inviting, listening and telling, teaching and learning. Awell managed diversity is a great source of wealth, both economical and cultural.With no thinking on brain drain, the question is how to make brains move and good ideasstay. What to import and what to export, and more importantly how. Which solutions for aworld of moving talents and human resources. How to exploit diversity, how to enrichsociety. Also relevant is how to best export our own good ideas and how to best absorbgood ideas from virtuous European Countries.

6Politics, institutions and

public administration

Hidden taxes: reducing bureaucracy costs and unleashing new energies

Many (European) public administrations face the challenge of curbing costs withoutreducing the service level provided. Citizens and companies see inefficiencies,burdens and privileges.A bad public administration is not only a waste of public and private money, of

personal and collective time, it is also a waste of human capital that could be putat a better use.So the barcampers’ challenge is how to improve efficiency and effectiveness, howto reduce red tape and increase public interest, how to increase added value fromthe public sector and reduce cost, how to transform public employees into civilservants or more, where to re-allocate resources otherwise wasted.

ItaliaCampThe ItaliaCamp Association, in cooperation with the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers, is organizingand promoting the “ItaliaCamp” project and the competition “Your idea-contribution to the Country” (“La tuaidea per il Paese”) both at national and international level.

The initiative was launched in 2010 by a group of students, researchers, entrepreneurs and graduates, whocoordinated the LUISS BarCamp 2009 registering the participation of a large number of citizens andqualified representatives from institutions, universities, companies.
