This project has two sections: Part A- Group project on your natural disaster. You will be working in a group with your classmates that have the same natural disaster topic. You will be presenting your project to your classmate, so make sure you keep it interesting with correctly researched information. Think about short videos and images you can show the class. Part B – Individual project on a specific disaster. Select a natural disaster event that has occurred in Australia (or another country). Present your project on a poster, PowerPoint, booklet or movie – Get permission from your teacher. 1. What causes the disaster? 2. What occurs or happens during the disaster? 3. Draw a step-by-step flow diagram of what happens leading up to, during and after the disaster? 4. List 5 examples of your natural disaster. State the Location and date of the events. What effects did the natural disaster have on the location? How do you prepare for the natural disaster? 5. Find a video, or make a PowerPoint slideshow of photos on your natural disaster 6. State 5 examples of positive outcomes of the natural disaster? E.g. Soil becomes rich in nutrients 7. Include a bibliography of all the materials used. You must include a minimum of three books or websites. It is your responsibility to: Ensure that you read the rubric and questions closely so that you know what you are being assessed for. Be organised Work closely with your group and communicate regularly – decide on a fair way to share the workload. Ask for assistance when you need it from both your teacher and classmates. 1. Use photos to show the Natural disaster – write 2 to 3 sentences to explain what the photo is showing. 5. What was done to help rebuild the area that was affected by the natural disaster? E.g. charity, donations, first aid, volunteer work, rebuild. 6. Include a bibliography of all the materials used. You must include a minimum of three books or websites.
