I learned that I am a powerful creator with many gifts to share and a knack for articulating my thoughts in a way that people understand. I also learned that thinking, talking or defining my life too much can be as harmful as it is helpful. We are - I am - in the habit of trying to crystalize all of my experiences into lessons immediately. In doing so, I protect myself from actually experiencing them! It’s not only ok to make mistakes, it’s necessary for true growth. I learned that I’m loved more than I’ll ever know and that one of my gifts to share that love wherever I can.

We are love and we are light. Find THIS within yourself and reach out to find the heart standing next to you. Stand with them. Stand with me. Stand with us.

I met Bo on the set of an Ellen Von Unwerth shoot at the Standard hotel. He was delivering a few Rodarte dresses at the time because he was designing for them and I was playing the role of stylist on set requesting all the couture. Since that moment Bo and I kept in contact and it wasn’t until we both connected on the Savage Ranch that we soon understood each other, shared stories over mushroom tea, danced under the moonlight and indulged in a few goddess fantasies. Bo is going through his own transition in life and that’s how we both bonded. While i’m transitioning to be a Love goddess, he’s transitioning to become an alien space cowboy known as Data. If you haven’t seen “Vegas in Space” the 1991 science fiction/comedy film, directed by an iconic drag queen Phillip R. Ford, i highly recommend you watch it. It was watching that film with Bo that put his new collection into perspective. For those of you who haven’t seen the film picture a “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” fantasy on acid. That’s Data vision in the 20th century. From hand created textiles, fringe made out of reflective mylar, sacred geometry prints from religious temples to laser cut leather, this Queen has a yearning desire for unadulterated pleasure, hedonistic raves and glamour in a post “Samsara” future. fran: what influences or inspires your work?bo: ugh god haha.. i do have very specific OBSESSIONS that just won’t quit. i am super nerdy and love sci-fi and fantasy

anything. BUT i would say my biggest inspirations are from people that i love and the lives we lead. getting all dressed up for late night parties or putting looks together for trips. i get a kick from the last minute call from a friend who has to host a party, has a shoot or maybe a performance and they come to me to help them out. i am so grateful everyday to have so many vibrant, beautiful and creative people in my life…fran: what are the biggest challenges of being a creative professional in your field?bo: i would say that the biggest challenge to me is the same problem most creative people have. showing up for the business end. none of us want to do that.. i pray for that person that is like, “i love creating cost sheets!”. but working on your dream requires you to show up everyday and that includes doing stuff you don’t want to do sometimes. fran: what do you love most about what you do?bo: honestly, i am a total pleasure seeker and hedonist. i will only do what i am really moved to do… and my vices of late come directly from my work. i am talking about the bliss. bliss that can only come when you step aside surrender and let creation happen…seeing something that started as an idea come to lifefran: what do you feel like you need to improve/do to become the artist you would like to become; to be where you want to be and achieve what you want to achieve?

bo: i believe in evolution. i believe in waking up and doing your best to be better today then you were yesterday… do i always achieve this? no. but it is part of my daily intention. it is part of my spiritual practice and this applies to all aspects of my life.Bo: What are some recent, upcoming or current projects you are working on?Fran: I recently released a video called “Catedral” which is all done with giphs and you is interactive- www.catedr.al or “Catedral” on Youtube. I’m working on a new side project in english for 2017 which I’m very excited about.I’m slowly working on my new spanish album. And constantly working on my feminist festival Ruidosa (“to rumble; to make noise” is a rough translation), which will have a new version in Chile and in Mexico City, too.

Bo: Tell us about your process and how it develops.

Fran: I do a lot of music and visual art -painting, collaging- intertwined. I usually work alone. In music, once I have songs developed and pre-produced, I collaborate with producers. I usually write on piano, electric guitar or work with software and their infinite banks of sounds and gadgets.

If you follow pop culture it’s inevitable that you’ve come across the work of Brooklyn based designer Brad Callahan, aka, BCALLA. After graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he went on to intern for the likes of Jean-Paul Lespagnard and Gerlan Jeans, whileworking on his own line and inevitably steering to pursue BCALLA as a full time job. Now, five years later, his work has been worn by artists like Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Azealia Banks, amongst many other performers, including superstars of the new drag queen media takeover phenomenon like Violet Chachki, Pearl and the New York underground counterculture ,which Bradley’s a big part of. The success of BCALLA comes hand in hand with the support from the LGBTQ community. Being openly gay himself, the clothes become an ode to self love, body positivity, gender neutralization and encouraging young artists to have a voice, break the rules and be creative. Let it be known he was the first designer to release a “Fashion Porn” as a campaign (FW15) partnered with Cockyboys, claiming to be the first and last of its kind in the fashion world.

As a believer of the brand, wearing BCALLA reminds me of the transformation sequences I idolized growing up in animes like Rayearth or Sailor Moon, when they turn from regular school girls into fabulous warriors of love, peace and justice. Thinking back, the first piece of his I ever wore was a black, skin tight, PVC, singlet-like garment with a heavy bondage feel… Oh! And a ully exposed backside, of course ;) I thought he was kidding and I was mortified to even try it on, but the second I stepped out wearing Bradley’s creation, there was sense of freedom, identity and leaving behind all the labels that society works so hard to box us into. There are no labels in his world, only manifestations of love and devotion. His work turns fantasies into full over-the-top couture come to life. With divas, drag royalty, music videos and underground artists (most of them close friends) under his belt as a self-made, independent designer, the work of BCALLA reminds us of the grand shows of the late 80’s and 90’s. The fantasy of a Galliano Dior show, the excitement of aMugler runway or the theatrics and punk attitude of the late, great Alexander

McQueen.Bradley’s new collection will be out for New York Fashion Week, entitled “X,Y and Z Fight the Evil Homogeny”, a perfect name relating to anyone who knows his work or is an independentqueer artist themselves. It’s no secret that mainstream media has always borrowed inspirationfrom gay artists and turned massive profits without the creator getting credit for it (Klaus Nomi, Leigh Bowery, Divine, just to name a few.) and a loud voice like BCALLA is necessary to make a shift in the industry, to let fashion homogeny know that queer visibility is here to stay. So strap on that vinyl, zip up that mesh, pop your tits out and let Bcalla do the rest.

You’ve had a pretty crazy year, which started in a dark place, but has transitioned into you finding a new calling and passion for healing. Can you tell us a bit more about your journey?

This year has been extremely intense and trying, but my life has always been intense and these past few years have just come at me exponentially sharper. It was mostly behind closed doors, up until my suicide attempt this past November, which was made very public. I’ve always been a healer, but in a very second-nature and, at times, oblivious way.

My mind, body and soul have collectively known suffering before I could even take my first breath. I was recently reminded of this at my chiropractor’s office. I had to fill out a huge list of stuff that can cause bone, joint and nerve problems, starting with my birth. I was born into a room that looked like a massacre with my grandparents and great grandmother, Diosa, praying with their rosaries outside of the room. I started to come out ass first and had to get shoved back inside my mother. When they saw the umbilical wrapped around my neck, they cut her open and yanked me out, almost killing her! I had no choice but to live an extreme life. Not

to mention, my father is Guatemalan, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Mayan, Spanish and my mother is Choctaw and Russian. There’s a lot of intense conflicting ancestral blood pumping through my veins, but I’m grateful for it, because I don’t think I would’ve been able to heal myself to the point I’m at now, without the primitive instincts, intuition and knowledge of my ancestors.

After throwing myself in front of a train, with 2 freshly amputated limbs, and fractured bones, I was thrown into the Bellevue Psych Ward. I was bed ridden in an isolated room for 40 days of no fresh air or sunlight, with a team of people that took turns keeping me sleep-deprived, over-medicated, monitoring me like a science project.

Once I was stabilized and finally released from the psych ward and moved to the medical floor I saw how drained all the people that I love were. I started to think of my future, and I knew the only way I could go on from that point was to fully embrace what I’m supposed to be. I knew there was a long road of recovery for all of us, and I wasn’t able to trust doctors, nor did I feel like I could put any more emotional strain on the people around me, so, I was like damnit, I’ll just learn how to heal us all! I am filling

myself with as much knowledge of food medicine, holistic care, energy work, spirituality, sacred wisdom, patience and psychology. We all come from different backgrounds and have different needs. I want to be able to help all people and not everyone is spiritual, so sometimes my help must come from a very “practical” and easy to digest place. We all have access to the same information, I just want to guide people to find the answers themselves.

Do you have any daily rituals that are important for your mental/physical/emotional well-being?

Yes! I have discovered that I am someone who needs rituals, which I not only learned from my healers, but also through DBT therapy. I wake up, pee, drink a glass of lemon water, take a small bong hit, lay back down and meditate. My mind is still very active in the morning so I listen to a guided meditation, I use a few different ones depending on what I need that day. Then I get up, put on my leg, make myself a smoothie full of ingredients that alkalize my body and help with inflammation, and go walk on the treadmill for 20-30 minutes. I try to be really mindful when doing all of these things, putting good intentions in the food medicine I put in my body and into

the rotation of my hips and strengthening of my muscles and joints when I walk. Then I take a really hot shower, ice my body and either sew or read. Some days, I need to meditate after I ice my body and need to stay in my own healing space. I think it’s important for people, especially artists and care givers to have routines or rituals that they can turn to when needed, instead of letting ourselves be overstimulated with distractions in auto play. Even if people take 5 minutes out of their day to make their coffee without texting or watching tv. It slows your brain down and calms your nerves when you’re mindful.

I wanted to talk to you a bit about your time being confined to a wheelchair. We’ve talked in the past about how there were times when you felt unsafe and uncomfortable, because you weren’t as mobile as someone who has use of their legs. Can you talk a little bit about you experiences?

Because I was bedridden for 42 days, when I finally got to be in a wheelchair I was very grateful and having that freedom definitely eased my suffering. After a few days in physical therapy I was able to navigate myself using one arm and one leg which gave me a lot of hope and a bit of my independence back.

However, when I was finally released from the hospital, and back in the real world, that feeling quickly faded. It was always “easier” for other people to get things for me, or push me and I found it all very frustrating and helpless and I got into a lot of fights demanding my independence.

But the worst is feeling like you are being preyed on by male predators. I would always see them lurking at me from a distance or sometimes popping up way to close for comfort, just waiting for a moment to approach me.

You would think that being in a wheelchair makes people more compassionate and cautious, but actually there’s an entire group of insecure and damaged humans that enjoy preying on people with disabilities and projecting their shit on you. Dodging sexual predators wasn’t something I thought I would be doing so early out if the hospital. I plan on taking self defense classes now that I can walk and have a cane. I think all people should know how to defend themselves.

I feel like any horrible, dark thing that has happened to me in my life eventually has a positive purpose, even if it takes me years to see it. Do you feel like your accident served a purpose for you? And if

so, can you elaborate?I’ve been reading a lot of work by

Thich Nhat Hanh and I have found that it has allowed me to come to peace with my suffering and understand the suffering of the people around me. As I heal myself, I gain more knowledge and understanding that will help the people around me. My darling, I suffer, but I am as strong as they come, and because I have endured such suffering, I can help you to suffer less. If anything, this experience has allowed me to bring to life, what the misogynistic patriarchy of this country has worked for hundreds of years to destroy. Some people may read this and think I’m insane, but that’s because they’re afraid.

Uranus enters a retrograde (July 29 th – December 29 th ) leading us towards the turn of the new year. Fall’s whisper is a time of realization. We are able to receive input when we are open, in our hands and hearts. What are we holding? Even our chalice to hold abundance must be sometimes left atop of the hill; let Her (Luna) fill your cup. Yes, our fountains want to over flow, but the wading pool is becoming more still as Summer’s Fire simmers with the pressures mounting underneath us. Sit with her wish for you to see your self; we always want to know how the Stars move, but what about spending time learning You? Saturn is attuned to Sagittarius, giving us new vital energy for us to learn to look at Justice and our personal Honor. As warriors, we must learn to kneel at the edge of the wading pool. What do we wish to see? In this place of expectation, we can will things into being. Trusting what it means to release an arrow to the Moon and let it go on its journey is an important part of allowing these Realizations of Fall to come into being. Trusting what is means to lay down the sword and staff, to open your hands and give to the Earth and others, while allowing the space to receive. In this opening we can lift from the gravity of expectation. Our intuitive senses will be pressed to expand as Neptune retrograde is in Pisces, who will soon be trine to Saturn. Like all seeds respond to pressure and fire, we, too, are pressed to make space,

to change the world. Developing these intuitive powers is now called upon. It isn’t something to find or seek, it is to be danced into being, to simply be allowed by action - everything must be is in reach. Many Moons ago ancient medicine men and women would meditate for days and nights, listen to the plants and herbs, sing to areas where a specific medicine grew. In these ceremonies if they heard “wrongly” it could mean death for the sick one. There is a trust built within the devotion of listening that we must learn again. We all deserve to learn. Eris becomes conjunct with Uranus. It is time to allow ourselves to care for our inflammations by ceasing aggressive gestures towards ourselves and with one another. Eris’ revolt caused by her not receiving an invitation is what sparked the Trojan War. We have fought for so long, from Pisces now into Aquarius, the ruler of Uranus. To sit with our wounds, to realize them, speak with them, listen to the song they sing. Our body becomes stronger from these cuts, these making of spaces in our flesh - that become harder, yet still soft. You might even find with all of the fire and heat coming in the Eclipse season that we can remove the swords and arrows and give them as a gift to the Sun. Fall into the wading pool when the fire is too much, knowing we are all falling into our Selves. When we shoot our arrows to the Moon, do not forget they feel the call of our Hearts and some even land in one another’s body -

perhaps just to link your angelic self to witness them and their suffering. There are so many rapid arrows hurting and killing angels; every day we are witness to these acts of Injustice, Imbalance, Disconnection. What happens when we realize we must take care of others because we truly witness them in front of us - within reach? We are learning how to honor the ripples in the waters and act upon what we are being shown. We are learning that our actions must be resonant from the Heart, because when they are not, they become dangerous. Trust the time is takes to feel this. Know and own the humility it takes to be still on the battle field and consult the wading pool is radical. Ferociously generous, together we can actually join together in revolution and support. When you are bitten and carry the venom, cut it open and burn it with your sacred Heart fire. Realization while falling is as important as flying; your venom will aid someone, becoming remedy for another Angel. Eclipsing, coming together, elebrating each other’s shadow as much as the Light. Our season of Eclipse begins on the 19 th of August. Open your hands to receive, while giving the ultimate gift of all: holding one another in open arms, letting one another fly, and celebrating what it means to see one another rise and fall through our seeing selves. Learning what it means to be Free.
