Quality through and through

Solid wood floors have some major drawbacks. Humidity fluctuations can cause the wood to warp, uneven subfloors require time-consuming sanding prior to installation, etc. In addition, a large amount of precious hardwood is neededto produce just a few square metres of flooring. Multilayer parquet from HARO easily solves these issues by using abalanced 3-layer construction with grains running in different directions. This reduces the natural swelling and shrinkingof the wood by up to 70%. And compared to solid wood floors, multilayer parquet is also the better choice in terms ofsustainability, eco-friendliness, and price-performance ratio.

Surface finish

Whether it’s the hard-wearing PERMADUR natural matt finish, the bioTec oil-waxfinish, or naturaLin plus, the “breathing” natural oil finish – we put the same care andattention into all our surface finishes. From the selection of the raw materials to theapplication of up to 7 coats required for the PERMADUR finish, we take care that theywill provide superior durability.

This is the top layer of a multilayer parquet floor. It consists of carefully selectedpremium wood that has been well seasoned and dried, and gently processed.Rely on our decades of experience in the production of parquet and enjoy the goodfeeling that you made the best choice.

Middle layer

This layer consists of cross-glued solid spruce fingerstrips which ensure the lifelongstability of HARO PARQUET. Though invisible from the outside, this layer is verylabour and time-intensive to manufacture. We use only spruce of a uniform woodmoisture content and largely cross-cut annual rings. This is essential to guaranteethat your parquet will remain stable. The task of the middle layer is to balancetensions in the top layer and thus guarantee maximum dimensional stability.

Bottom layer

A backing veneer made of softwood further increases the floor’s stability.

Insulation

Insulation underlays have a sound-absorbing effect and reduce strain on body jointsand spine. We offer underlays in different materials that are either factory-laminatedto the back of the board or available in loose rolls.

Perfect construction

Wood is a living material and affected by fluctuations in ambient conditions. A solid wood floor shrinks in the winter-time because of the low air humidity, and swells in the warmer, more humid seasons. This causes warping as shownin the illustration. 3-layer HARO PARQUET has been engineered so that these forces have no effect on the beauty anddurability of the floor.

Don’t give moisture a chance!

Our moisture protection makes sure that moisture does not have a chance against the multilayer parquet. Water dropsstay on the floor surface, repelled by the impregnated top-layer strip joints on the inside of the board*. Though thisspecial treatment is no general requirement, we consider it a must in order to meet our high quality standards. Anothergood reason to choose our brand-name parquet.

Natural changes

As a vibrant material, each wood type has its own distinctive features. This includes the most various interactions with lightand UV light. Light wood gets darker with time, dark wood types tend to lighten. Why is that? It is because of lignin, whichis a key wood compound. Lignin changes the colour of the wood when exposed to sunlight. Tropical wood species canstrongly alter when exposed to light. Iroko and Merbau wood tend more towards a dark brown tone. The wood types with thesteadiest colour tones are African Oak, Oak Carbon Black and the solid-coloured wood types of parkettmanufaktur by HARO– almost no colour alteration.

Wood hardness

Each wood type has a different hardness, which is not given as a single fixed value, but indicated by a hardness rangethat varies depending on the tree’s natural growth. Wood hardness is measured with the Brinell test, in which a 10 mmdiameter steel ball is pressed into the wood surface with a specified force and for a specified time. The Brinell hardnessnumber (HB) is then calculated from the size of the indentation left in the wood. The harder the wood, the higher theBrinell hardness number.

Format

The board format is another factor with which you can influence the overall impression of a room. Shorter boards likePlank Toscana, for example, can help to make small rooms appear larger. Grades

No two pieces of wood are alike, even if they come from the same tree. Heartwood looks different thanwood from the outer regions of the tree trunk. And depending on the wood species, wood from higherareas of the tree may have more knots than wood from further down. There are many criteria that define the typical character of a grade. But one thing never changes: it takes the keen eyes of ourexperienced production staff to ensure accurate grading. No machine is that exact – and that’s whyour top-layer strips are always graded by hand. This makes sure that we can consistently meet your –and our own – high quality standards.

If you want to emphasise the plank character, choose HAROPARQUET with bevelled edges. A 4-sided bevel (4V) means that the edges are bevelled on both long sides and the ends,while a 2-sided bevel (2V) means bevelled edges on the long sides only.
