FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR APRIL WORSHIP: In this month in which we anticipate and celebrate the glorious Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, may our Joy in Jesus, who has

risen from the dead, be cause for a new way of life in Christ and active participation in our church parish of St. Peter. FAITH FORMATION: May we be attentive, as Jesus’ disciples, to living out the Mysteries of Jesus’ Resurrection in these 50 days of Easter

and eager to walk with our newly initiated Catholic brothers and sisters. EVANGELIZATION: May the Easter message of God’s Merciful Love be shared with everyone we know and love. May those away from

the practice of the Faith by drawn in by our Joyful witness to His Divine Mercy. SOCIAL JUSTICE: May our Easter Joy, this month, inspire us to share the Good News of Christ’s Love and Mercy with those who are the

least among us through concrete acts of service to the poor, the sick, and the lonely. BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: As repairs to our church facilities are taking place, we remember with affection and thanksgiving all who

have gone before us who worked, sacrificed and gave of themselves for us to receive first our Faith and second, our beautiful church of St. Peter in which to worship and adore Jesus, the Resurrected one.

SAINT PETER ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY APRIL 16, 2017

HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR APRIL UNIVERSAL INTENTION: Young People

That young people may respond generously to their vocations and seriously consider offering themselves to God in the priesthood or consecrated life.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

The Message of Divine Mercy is that God is merciful. He is love itself poured out for us, and He wants no one to escape that merciful love. God wants us to turn to Him with trust and repentance while it is still a time of mercy. Turning to and imploring God’s mercy is the answer to the troubled world. What God most wants of us is to turn to Him with trust. And the first act of trust is: receive His mercy. To trust God is to rely on Him who is mercy itself. The Lord wants us to live with trust in Him in all circumstances. We trust Him because He is God, and He loves us and cares for us.

Not only are we to receive His mercy, but we are to use it, by being merciful to others by our actions, by our words, and by our prayers; in other words by practicing the Corporal and Spiritual works of Mercy.

PRO-LIFE COORDINATOR NEEDED

St. Peter Parish is in need of a Pro-Life Coordinator. Anyone interested in serving the parish in this apostolate

is asked to contact Fr. Ledoux or Deacon Barney.

THE FEAST OF THE DIVINE MERCY WHAT IS DIVINE MERCY?

Divine Mercy gets to the heart of Sacred Scripture. In fact, as the Catechism of the Catholic Church says, "The Gospel is the revelation in Jesus Christ of God’s mercy to sinners" (1849). Right there: That summarizes it. Divine Mercy is the Gospel. It's the good news. And so, it gets to the very center of our faith. Moreover, in the words of Pope Benedict XVI, “Divine Mercy is not a secondary devotion, but an integral dimension of Christian faith and prayer." Benedict even goes so far as to say, "[M]ercy is the central nucleus of the Gospel message." ~Fr. Michael Gaitley; Divine Mercy Explained

FR LEDOUX AWAY FROM THE PARISH Fr. Ledoux will be away from the parish from Monday, April 24th through Wednesday, April 26th. Fr. will be traveling to MD Anderson in Houston for his six-month medical checkup. Please keep Fr. Ledoux in your prayers for safe travels and favorable test results.

“JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU”

ST. FAUSTINA: "Sunday, April 28, 1935. Low Sunday; that is, the Feast of The Divine Mercy, the conclusion of the Jubilee of Redemption. When we went to take part in the celebrations, my heart leapt with joy that the two solemnities were so closely united. I asked God for mercy on the souls of sinners. Toward the end of the service, when the priest took the Blessed Sacrament to bless the people, I saw the Lord Jesus as He is represented in the image. The Lord gave His blessing, and the rays extended over the whole world. Suddenly, I saw an impenetrable brightness in the form of a crystal dwelling place, woven together from waves of brilliance unapproachable to both creatures and spirits. Three doors led to this resplendence. At that moment, Jesus, as He is represented in the image, entered this resplendence through the second door to the Unity within. It is a triple Unity, which is incomprehensible – which is infinity. I heard a voice, 'This Feast emerged from the very depths of My mercy, and it is confirmed in the vast depths of My tender mercies. Every soul believing and trusting in My mercy will obtain it.' I was overjoyed at the immense goodness and greatness of my God.'" (Diary 420)

ALLELUIA! HE IS RISEN!

ALLELUIA! HE IS RISEN! PRAYER TO THE RISEN CHRIST

in the 50 days of Easter…

Heavenly Father and God of mercy, we no longer look

for Jesus among the dead, for He is alive

and has become the Lord of life. From the waters of death

You raise us with Him and renew Your gift of life within us.

Increase in our minds and hearts the risen life we share with Christ and help us to grow as Your people

toward the fullness of Eternal Life with You.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

REGINA COELI

The Easter prayer Regina Coeli (“Queen of Heaven” in Latin) is a wonderful tribute to our Lord’s resurrection and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Although its origins are unknown, it dates back to the 13th century. Traditionally, it is prayed standing, often at noon, in place of another well-known prayer, the Angelus, during the Easter Season from Holy Saturday until Pentecost.

Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia. / The Son whom you merited to bear, alleluia.

Has risen, as He said, alleluia. /

Pray for us to God, alleluia.

Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia. / For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.

Let us pray. O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS

You did not choose Me. Rather, I chose you. ~Jn 15:16

REFLECTION: Baptism is a sacrament of welcome. God chooses us long before we choose, and all the chosen welcome each other. This is the exact opposite of the mindset of abortion, which ignores God’s choice and says that we can choose not to welcome children into

the community. Let’s thank God for baptism and for life!

PRAYER: Lord, as a people made one by baptism, may we grow in the spirit of welcome and rejoice in all those You continue to add to the human family.

Stewardship is the grateful response of a Christian disciple who recognizes and receives God's gifts and shares

these gifts in love of God and neighbor.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS AND STEWARDSHIP! BECAUSE OF YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT,

WE HAVE A WONDERFUL PLACE OF WORSHIP.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

In today’s first reading, the four activities of the earliest church are introduced to us as priorities of the church: devotion to the teachings of the apostles, communal fellowship, the Eucharist and prayer. The early members of the church saw themselves as devoted stewards of these activities. These were not options. They were the fruits of a genuine conversion to a life in Christ. Sharing in the Eucharist was the most intimate expression of fellowship, while the most common expression of fellowship in the New Testament was that of sharing financial resources – giving. It was not a perfect community, but one that gave evidence of God’s active presence in its midst. This early community offers us an excellent example of how to better exercise stewardship in our own parish families.

CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL Next week, we will take up the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Right now, over 40 percent of dioceses in the US are considered home missions because they are unable to fund essential pastoral work needed in their communities. Your support of this appeal helps ease the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this appeal. More information can be found at www.usccb.org/home-missions.

CRS RICE BOWL – Thank You! Our community changed lives this Lent, and CRS Rice Bowl wants to say thank you! Don’t forget to turn in your CRS Rice Bowl!

ROSARY FOR PEACE The Rosary for peace for our country and our soldiers will be prayed every Thursday before 6:30am Mass.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in You will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of Your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of Your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise You for Your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

BONNE MORT SOCIETY: THANK YOU

As the Bonne Mort Society celebrates over 100 years (1906-2017) of the tradition of prayer for the soul, we wish to thank all members who have paid their yearly dues, and to welcome all the new members who have enrolled. We would also like to thank those who gave so generously in donations. We use these donations to help defray the cost of the candles that burn perpetually at the Altar of Our Blessed Mother Mary, the Altar of St. Joseph, the Altar to The Divine Mercy, and the Pro-Life Monument. We also use these donations to pay the dues for our elderly members who have entered Nursing Homes, and are no longer able to pay for themselves. If you have not paid your dues of $1.00 per member yet, or you wish to enroll yourself and/or your family at $2.00 per member (for the first year only), you may do so by mailing them to: Bonne Mort Society 815 N. Michaud St. Carencro, LA 70520

For more information call: Noreen Breaux @ 896-8780.

Please know that the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is being offered once a week for all living and deceased members of the Society; that you are always remembered in prayer.

ALTAR FLOWER DONORS

If you or your family would like to donate flowers for our church in memory of your loved ones, beginning with the Easter Season, contact Martha Trahan at 896-4187. We give thanks for those who

have donated flowers for the altars over the years to make our church such a special place to Worship!
