“…As Catholics, we cherish the Sacrament of
Reconciliation, because it is willed by Christ Our Lord
…it unlocks the chains of sin that enslave and restores [us] to
a state of grace. In Confession, we encounter Jesus…who
lavishes us with his unmerited and boundless mercy…”

Be pleased to receive into your protection All who go down to the sea in ships,
And occupy their business in great waters Preserve them in body and soul;;
Prosper their labours with good success;; in all times of danger be their defence

The Confirmandi are going to learn more about the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). During this Year of Mercy and beyond, we are all greatly encouraged to approach the Throne of Mercy in full confidence.
Receive God’s mercy,
receive God’s forgiveness. Leave behind as many sins
as you can. Do not take them into
the next life. Go to Confession regularly,
be forgiven, do your penance,
be in a state of grace. Our soul deserves to be looked
after and BLESSED!

Students, Exams & Holidays The exam season is all but over now and there may well be an anxious wait for results. But as a Parish Community, we assure all our young people that they are in our prayers for good results and to remember that Our Lord waits and is with them whatever the outcome. We pray for our school, St. Mary’s Catholic High and our local high schools. That their commitment to their studies will bring good rewards. In the meantime, many will be taking a summer break either away from home or coming back from university to spend time with family. We welcome many of our students back and look forward to seeing them amongst us in these summer months.
Our Schools * St. Mary’s Catholic High The School has been mentioned in “The Crier” (Catholic Education Commission) publication, following the successful Pastoral Mission, led by the Zion Community. Copies are available from the back of the Church. * St. Mary’s Primary School have achieved outstanding SATs results under the leadership of Linda Callaghan and her team of teachers. Well done boys and girls. Well done to the whole school!
Parish Youth
Sun 17th Jul
Youth Mass @ 12.15pm
Followed by refreshments @
1.45pm Parish Prayer Room
Many thanks to our volunteers who came along to our 2nd meeting last Sunday. The group is still being formed, so new help VERY welcome! But we did not want to delay on moving forward with our parish young people. Next Sunday, (17th Jul) the 12.15pm Mass will be for young people and they will be involved in the welcoming and The Liturgy. After, we have refreshments in the parish prayer room. At this time, we will ask the young people to fill in a basic short survey on how they see their role in parish life and how we can help them grow in Faith and take an active part both spiritually and practically. Many are already Altar Servers, readers and involved in music ministry and other parts of parish life. We would like their ideas. The occasion is open to all parish young people, but would have special appeal for the age-group at Confirmation level. There will be a short survey of young people’s views which they can complete then and there. We would also like to see the 18 young people who came to the last meeting of May 15th. Going forward, the plan is to find young people who will sit on our Parish Pastoral Council.
