FROM THE PASTOR

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, With the coming of July summer vacation time begins. This is a time for all of us to try to relax andunwind after another hectic year. As we begin our vacation time let us use it as a time not only to relax, but also to grow closer toour families, our friends and most important of all our loving Savior Jesus. As we make our plans for the summer let us create sometime to spend in deepening our relationship with our loving Savior.

Don’t forget you can find a Church and Mass times anywhere in the country on the internet at www.Masstimes.org.

It is my prayer that all of you will have a safe and peaceful and fun filled summer.

Congratulations Class of 2014

We want to congratulate all of our parishioners who have graduated this year from High School, College and Graduate School. We are proud of each and everyone of you. We hope that as you move on to the next phase of your education or life you will takewith you our love, prayers and support. We hope that you remember that you are part of OLGC. Continue to grow in your faithand knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Trust in Him and remain close to Him in the Sacraments and He will guideyou in life.

Prayer for Religious Liberty

Almighty God, Father of all nations,For freedom you have set us free in Christ Jesus (Gal. 5:1).We praise and bless you for the gift of religious liberty, the foundation of human rights, justice, and the common good.Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties;By your grace may we have the courage to defend them, for ourselves and for allthose who live in this blessed land.We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our patroness, and in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, with whom you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

May God bless you,

Fr. Stephen Cinque

CALL TO MINISTRYAll of us are called through Baptism to serve the Church. There are many different ways of serving. We are looking forvolunteers to answer the call of service as ExtraordinaryMinisters of Communion (Eucharistic Ministers) and Lectors. Ministry of Extraordinary Minister of Communion serves theparish in two ways. The first is assisting the priests in givingout Holy Communion at Mass. The second is in bringing HolyCommunion to the sick and shut-ins in the parish. The Ministryof Lector is to assist the priests by the reading of SacredScripture at Mass and at special prayer services. Each of thosecalled to those ministries will undergo a preparation andtraining before entering into the ministry.

If you think you might be interested in using your God givengifts and talents in either of these ministries please contact Fr.Duffe or Fr. Cinque.

WORD OF LIFEWe are confident that we serve a God of life, of hope andmercy. We know that all human life is a gift from God, a giftthat God charges us to protect. To be worthy of being calledhis disciples, Jesus urges us to love others as he has loved us(Jn 13:34-35). Our response then, to a culture in whichhostility towards others is commonplace, in which killing isoften considered a legitimate solution to social problems, is toboth live and proclaim a gospel of life, hope and mercy. - LifeMatters: A Catholic Response to the Death Penalty, 2013Respect Life Program.
