One of the main learning points in using ICT is how to be a responsible user. The school runs workshop sessions for parents and children on how to stay safe on the internet. The school has an e-safety policy which is available to read on the schools website and is linked to the agreement below. Parent / Carer Acceptable Use Agreement Digital technologies have become integral to the lives of children and young people, both within schools and outside school. These technologies provide powerful tools, which open up new opportunities for everyone. They can stimulate discussion, promote creativity and stimulate awareness of context to promote effective learning. Young people should have an entitlement to safe internet access at all times.

This Acceptable Use Policy is intended to ensure: That young people will be responsible users and stay safe while using the internet and other

communications technologies for educational, personal and recreational use. That school systems and users are protected from accidental or deliberate misuse that could

put the security of the systems and users at risk. That parents and carers are aware of the importance of e-safety and are involved in the

education and guidance of young people with regard to their on-line behaviour.

The school will try to ensure that pupils have good access to digital technologies to enhance their learning and will, in return, expect the pupils to agree to be responsible users. A copy of the Pupil Acceptable Use Policy is attached to this permission form, so that parents / carers will be aware of the school expectations of the young people in their care.

Parents are requested to sign the permission form below to show their support of the school in this important aspect of the school’s work.

Permission Form Parent / Carer’s Name Pupil Name

As the parent / carer of the above pupil, I give permission for my son / daughter to have access to the internet and to ICT systems at school. Reception and KS1 children (Age 4 –6) will receive e-safety guidance within school. I understand that the school will take every reasonable precaution, including monitoring and filtering systems, to ensure that young people will be safe when they use the internet and ICT systems. I also understand that the school cannot ultimately be held responsible for the nature and content of materials accessed on the internet and using mobile technologies. I understand that my son’s / daughter’s activity on the ICT systems will be monitored and that the school will contact me if they have concerns about any possible breaches of the Acceptable Use Policy. I will encourage my child to adopt safe use of the internet and digital technologies at home and will inform the school if I have concerns over my child’s e-safety. Section 10 - Home School Agreement

The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 requires all maintained schools to adopt a home-school agreement and parental declaration from 1 September 1999. The Act says that : a home-school agreement is a statement explaining: the school’s aims and values; the school’s responsibilities towards its pupils; the responsibilities of the pupil’s parents; and what the school expects of its pupils. The draft agreement was approved by Governors as a basis for consultation at a full Governors’ meeting on 8th July 1999 and reviewed then on an annual basis.

AIMS AND VALUES OF OUR SCHOOL

This statement of aims and values assumes as its foundation the parallel statement in the School Prospectus and on our school website.

Our Mission Statement:

South Molton United Church of England Primary School seeks to develop the full potential of our children in mind, body and spirit, through high quality education in a caring Christian community.

The standard of education we aim for is one that will enable all children to achieve their potential and reach the highest standards of personal achievement. All children have the right to a balanced and broadly-based curriculum. The needs of all children are monitored and provision made where special needs exist to support children as appropriate. The school sets rigorous but realistic targets for performance in the statutory National Curriculum assessments (SATs).

To make all this possible we will need co-operation and teamwork between all members of the School Community – teaching and non-teaching staff, pupils, parents and governors.

THE SCHOOL WILL:

Treat children as individuals, respecting their rights, values and beliefs.

Promote good relationships and a sense of belonging.

Provide a well-ordered environment in which high quality teaching and learning can take place.

Provide a challenging and stimulating programme of study in accordance with the National Curriculum, ensuring that learning is progressive and continuous throughout a child’s school career.

Take all possible precautions to provide a safe e-learning environment, and inform parents of a child’s unsafe or irresponsible use of e-technology at school.

Recognise and maintain an awareness of the needs of each individual child according to her/his ability and aptitude.

Keep parents informed of their child’s progress and individual targets by reports, parents’ evenings and home-school diaries.

Encourage parents to visit school and keep them up-to-date with school news by regular newsletters.

Inform parents about what their children can expect to be learning each term.

Promote good behaviour and attitudes to learning in school and maintain the Behaviour Policy.

Set out a clear homework policy and inform parents what level and type of homework is expected of their children at each stage of their school career.

Alert parents as soon as possible when their child is absent.

PUPILS WILL:

Attend school regularly and on time (8.30 am start).

Attend school in good health maintained by adequate diet, exercise and sleep.

Be organised – bringing necessary kit, taking letters home promptly and returning homework regularly.

Behave in an orderly way with respect for other people.

Take and develop responsibility for their own learning.

PARENTS WILL:

Make sure their children attend school on time and every day during term-time.

Notify the school promptly if their child cannot attend for any reason.

Be realistic about their children’s abilities and offer encouragement and praise.

Make good use of information on their children’s progress and use parents’ meetings with teachers for t his purpose to ensure that they can help in their children’s learning and achieving their targets.

Support their children in assigned homework, and have the right to be consulted over changes or developments in the school’s homework policy.

Encourage their children only to use age-appropriate and safe internet and digital technologies at home, and inform school of any concerns about e-safety.
