St. Laurence Catholic School invites you to celebrate the 

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe  at our School Mass on Friday, December 13th at 8:15 a.m.  

 

Learn the story of the apparitions, the miracles, and of the image that Our Lady of Guadalupe left us almost 500 years ago. Join us for a special presentation by the Spanish Culture Club.   

Enjoy the traditional song “Las Mañanitas” and  other Marian Songs as we serenade Our Lady of Guadalupe with Mariachi Music.  

 

Everyone is welcome to attend Mass with us  for this very special celebration!

Dear Parents,

Just wanted to point out a couple of new additions to our facilities that we are very excited about. If you haven’t had a chance to see it, we have finally received our new rolling Digital Marquee on the main campus. This “portable” sign was a part of our “Fund a Need” at the Spring 2019 Auction last year. We are so glad to add this to our arsenal of resources in order to keep you informed and up to date! Right now, we are still learning how to use it but anticipate this sign will be beneficial in advertising upcoming events, noting the correct time and weather, celebrating good news and eventually welcoming guests to our campus. Thank you to our very generous SLCS families that helped us acquire this great new resource at last years’ auction gala. We may need to add a second one for ECC this year if we find it beneficial, so stay tuned! You might also have noticed that we have our new shade covering and two new picnic tables on the Chapel Playground, now ready for use by our little ECC students. This is another project that has been in the works for some time. PTO was kind enough to donate the money well over a year ago for the covering and cement pad so that our little ones could have some shade during the summer months. Since we know it can be in the 80’s through November, this is a very welcome addition for recess. Thank you so much to those of you that were able to support our SPICE program by attending the Celebration of our Unique Gifts luncheon this week and/or purchased poinsettias. We had a delicious meal with a beautiful testimonial by one of our amazing families that utilize SPICE services. This program is unique to our school and we are incredibly proud and blessed to be able to provide so many different programs designed to meet the needs of our students. If you missed it and would still like to help SPICE, join us tomorrow at Rustika Cafe for lunch. (see below for more details)

Lastly, and most importantly, the students have been asking me about dressing up like Santa due to meeting and surpassing our Giving Tuesday goal. I told them I will send for the suit via the North Pole and wear it the last day before break! Have a wonderful week and enjoy all the upcoming concerts and special programs celebrating the

Teaching Conflict Resolution 

Conflicts are part of life. Teaching healthy conflict resolution skills is an important part of raising healthy, well-adjusted kids. Life means having conflicts. Resolving conflicts in healthy ways is an essential skill that we can teach our kids when we model: • Good listening skills • Appropriate compromise • Limits • Humility Help kids learn conflict resolution by having them practice with you. A CELEBRATION OF OUR UNIQUE GIFTS - THANK YOU! A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Celebration of Our Unique Gifts luncheon yesterday! We welcomed over 120 guests to listen to speaker Dr. Chad Brandt talk about managing stress and anxiety. We are also grateful to parent Jennifer Reyes for her moving testimonial about the impact that the SPICE Program has had on her family and Director of Support Services, Dana Maresh, for sharing about the wonderful resources at SLCS. We have already raised over $17,000 towards the SPICE Program and donations are continuing to come in. SPIRIT DAY AT RUSTIKA CAFÉ TOMORROW 

Please join us in supporting the SLCS SPICE Program during Spirit Day at Rustika Café on Thursday, December 12th. Simply enjoy breakfast, lunch, or a sweet treat at Rustika and let them know you are with St. Laurence and they will donate 20% of sales to our school’s SPICE program. Rustika is located near Corelli’s Italian Cafe on Highway 6 and is open from 9am to 8pm on Thursday. Thanks for your support  

COME SUPPORT SLCS ROBOTICS THIS SATURDAY! 

Come and support Robotics at the tournament on Saturday, December 14th. Admission is free and is so much fun to watch. Qualifying rounds begin at 9:30am, at Reading Junior High, 8101 FM 762 Rd, Richmond, Texas 77469. We hope to see you there! !    

CHEER CLINIC - REGISTRATION DEADLINE THIS FRIDAY  Your Saints Cheerleaders are working hard to prepare for the upcoming Cheer Clinic on January 11. Not only are they preparing cheers chants and a dance routine, but they are learning the value of being a good leader. These valuable skills will help them prepare for high school and beyond. Happy Advent and Merry Christmas from St. Laurence Catholic School! As we close out the fall semester and move into the spring semester, 7th graders are busy working on their annual Science Fair projects. We are recruiting judges for our fair on Thursday, January 9, and would like to invite engineers, geologists, health care experts, and community members with a background in science to consider serving on our judging panel. Parents and family members of current 6th and 7th graders are not eligible to judge. ECC CHRISTMAS PROGRAM INVITATION   

You are invited to attend our annual Early Childhood Campus Christmas Program, Wednesday, December 18, in the Parish Hall. Our Pre-K program begins at 8:30 a.m. and Kindergarten will follow at 9:15 a.m. Students are asked to wear their Christmas church attire and be sure to have them get plenty of rest the night before. Thank you for sharing your precious little ones with us. It is a blessing to serve them at St. Laurence Catholic School!

Please join us as our SLCS Band presents their winter concert, Thursday, December 19th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Gym. It promises to be a wonderful evening with our musicians. Come out and support their hard work and celebrate the Christmas season.

ST. LAURENCE HOLIDAY CLASSIC TOURNAMENT DECEMBER 12, 13, AND 14 

The Saints Athletic department will host the Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament on December 12th, 13th and 14th. The 5th and 6th grade boys and girls will play in pool play Thursday and Friday and play for the Championship on Saturday. We need Parent Volunteers if you are interested in helping. Please come out and support the Saints!!  

GIRLS BASKETBALL The Varsity girls defeated St. Anne 24-4 last Thursday. All 3 teams had great showings in tournament play last weekend! The Varsity won the Silver Bracket at the Kinkaid Tournament. The JV girls placed second at Kinkaid winning 2 out of 3 games. And the C Team had a great showing at the St. Vincent DePaul tournament! The Varsity girls had a great win over St. John Paul II on Tuesday, 25-24. Way to go Saints!

- The Girls will play away at St. Cecilia on Thursday, December 12th, Varsity at 4:15pm, JV at 6:00pm, C Team at 5:15pm.

- The 5th and 6th grade teams will play in the St. Laurence Holiday Classic on Friday and Saturday. BOYS BASKETBALL 

The boys lost to a strong St. Vincent DePaul team on Tuesday. All 3 teams travel to St. Michael to play today. The Varsity boys played at the St. Francis Episcopal Tournament last Saturday against some tough competition but played well.

- The C Team will play in the St. Laurence Holiday Classic on Thursday and Saturday. - Game Away at St. Michael, Wednesday, December 11th, C Team at 4:30pm, JV at 5:15pm and Varsity

at 6:15pm.
