Please Join Us For The Title I Parent Information Night On Thursday, September 11th From 6:00-7:30 p.m. We would like to invite you to our Parent Information Night next Thursday, September 11th. Sign- up sheets will once again be available at 6:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room (MPR) to secure a November Parent/Teacher Conference time slot. Please bring your calendar to set a meeting with your child’s teacher during one of the following days: Thursday, November 20th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, November 24th from 1:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25th from 8:00-10:00 a.m. Melissa Llano, our Instructional Coach, will be hosting a “Reading Tips” table in the MPR. She will provide resources that can be used at home and will answer any questions that you may have. Jennifer Walsh, our school social worker, will also be hosting a kiosk with information about our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Olweus anti-bullying programs. At 6:15, our staff will be introduced and we will have a word from our PTO in the gym. Directly following, each classroom teacher will be hosting two identical informational sessions to help parents understand the expectations for students throughout the year. Session 1 will begin at 6:30 p.m. and session 2 at 7:00 p.m. The following topics will be discussed: The new Parent Portal Grade level specifics for Common Core State Standards MAP testing and how the data is used throughout the year Individual student MAP growth goal setting Reading and math initiatives Expectations regarding curriculum and homework PBIS/Olweus weekly class meetings Student birthday celebration procedures Room Locations Kindergarten/SNK (Gierszewicz & Joyce) - Room #120 SNK (Carlborg & Smith) - Room #127 1st - 5th grade general education - individual classrooms ELS/ST (Bigman, Mazzone, Raia) - Room #139 (lunch room) ELS/ST (Roy, Newell, Weber) - Room #166 (Mr. Roy’s classroom) Specials, Sped and ELL Resource Teachers will be available in the LMC Conference sign-up sheets will be available in the classrooms during each session for those who are not able to arrive early that evening. Child Care The information sessions are designed for parents so child care will be available in the gym. A rated “G” movie will be shown or students can read a book or complete homework at that time.
