Parent Information -Dental cavities are the most common childhood disease -68% of Texas children aged 6-8 have untreated cavities -Over 51 million hours of school are missed every year because of dental-related problems -You can prevent dental cavities with proper toothbrushing, flossing, dental visits and healthy food/drink choices TM TM TM -Eight 25-minute lessons with extension activities adapted for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade -PE activities to reinforce oral health concepts -A social media site where teachers, parents, and kids can find supporting materials (Pinterest.com/CATCHhealth) -A resource site where parents can find tips for smile care at home, videos, activities and more! CATCH Healthy Smiles teaches students to understand why toothbrushing, flossing, dentist visits, and healthy snack and beverage choices are important to oral health.
