• A sequence is a series of events. It can only become a cause and effect paragraph if the second sequence affects the first.

Someone knocks at the door, you opened it

Vs.

Someone knocks at the door while he was at the bathroom that’s why he can’t open

it.

• Immediate Cause: He runs around the

lawn and up the stairs and the bad

news

• Remote Cause: He may be smoking,

drinking, sleeping late, stress, etc.

• IMMEDIATE CAUSE- they are causes

with immediate contact or the ones

that are visible in the paragraph.

• REMOTE CAUSE- causes that are

removed in time or space from the

effects they create
