She will show quilts that she has made with recycled quilt tops and clothing. There will also be quilts made using stri ngs from previous projects and other quilters’ str ings. She has also used up some floral fabric purchased at a garage sale, has been given cut-up scraps from her friend with a challenge to make something out of them, and recently has been working on trying to use up her half-square triangle  blocks. Also she discovered that Moda fabric company now sells "Scrap Bags" that are strips cut into various widths but designer coordinated usuall y having about 26 strips in each sack. It has been a BIG challenge to come up with a quilt i dea for the strips ! Dava is a “make -do” kind of gal who has come up with some terrific and fun ways to use up all that stash and all the scraps that we quilters have! October 3rd — Sue RoyRomance of the Wedding Ring -My program about wedding ring quilts came about when I finally decided that I wanted to try one of these quilts. Previously I had determined that I would never make one. A friend wanted a table center piece that was a single ring. I took on the chal- lenge. Find out what I ended up doing. I have b een piecing quilt tops since the age of 9. I made two in high school when my Mom decided I needed to do something to keep me occupied during the summer. While living in north central Kansas, I joined the Silver Needles Quilt Guild. After moving to Oklahoma, I joined PAQ G, P.M. Patches & Pieces Quilt Guild, Walnut Valley Quilt Guild, and eventually OQSO (Oklahoma State Quilter's Organization). I have served as President as well as other offices & chairwoman positions of all these organizations. I love quilting and teaching to quilt which I do through workshops and classes at Pioneer Tech. I always learn along with my stu- dents. October 4th—Mary Ellen Johnson Workshop- teaching use of the Wonder Arc. The class will  be from 9:00 to 3:00pm. The cost is $15.00 per person. There is a minimum of 10 participants and a maximum of 20. Payment is due by the October meeting. Supply List: Apple Core Sample; 8 – L ight, 6” squares, pressed into fourths 8 – Dark, 6” squares, pressed into fourths (If you have the ruler already and know how to cut the circles, go ahead and cut out the circles). Clam Shell Sample; 18 – Blue, 5” squares, pressed into fourths 18 – White, 5” squares, pressed into fourths. Drunkard’s Path Sample; 6 – FQ’s Dark Fabrics (Each FQ different) 6 – FQ’s Light or Muslin Fabrics (Each FQ different). Flower Petal Sample; ¼ yd each of green for petals and flower color 1 – FQ for  background square. Whirling Arcs Sample; 1/2 yd of 4 different fabrics – 3 for the Whirling Arcs and 1 for back- ground. Bring a variety of FQ, light and dark for the other patterns. Depending on time is if we get any other sam-  ples made. All samples will be made using a raw edge except for the flower block. If a finished edge is wanted,  bring light to midweight SEW-IN interfacing. It will take more time finishing the circles, but with the raw edge method, you will get more out of the class by understanding the techniques. Supplies: Sewing Machine with Power foot, manual, bobbins. Basic sewing kit, WonderArc Ruler, mat and 28mm rotary cutter, Wonder Buddy or a tool for pushing out seams, Hemostat or turning tool. An alternative way to making the samples is with construction paper, not fabric. Just bring construction paper (lots of it) rotary cutter, mat, WonderArc ruler, and some glue sticks. You can even write your notes on the project. This saves you time and back strain from hauling your sewing machine and other supplies to class.
