2020 NDA DANCE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP JUDGES PATTY ADAMS Head Judge Patty Adams has enjoyed a career in dance for over 30 years, allowing her to experience a wide field of creative arenas. From dance performance ensembles and musical theater to education and curriculum development, her knowledge base is extensive. Patty’s primary focus has been in the area of hip hop choreography and team preparation for competitive dance events. She has consistently led teams to top ten placements, as well as numerous championships and innovative choreography awards. Having coached at the High School, College and All-Star levels, Adams has a clear understanding of the type and quality of educational feedback that competitive programs value. Adams has been fortunate enough to have been a member of the Hip Hop judging panel at the USASF Worlds since 2013 and is currently the Hip Hop Director for the event. In addition to being a member of the USASF Judges Education Committee, she serves as a Keynote Speaker, Dance Library author and Mentor for USASF Dance. ERIN HAROLD ALVARADO Head Judge Erin Alvarado is in her eighth year as the Pom Squad Coach at Texas Tech University. In 2017, she led the Texas Tech Pom Squad to the squad’s first national championship in school history at NDA, along with consecutive wins in 2018 and 2019. Her teams have traveled to Shanghai, China to represent the annual Tourism Festival and have performed alongside the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Erin is a graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology. She coached the WVU Dance Team for three years where the team won two consecutive NDA Collegiate National Championships. She adjudicates nationally and internationally, is a guest speaker at conferences, and is the Panel Director for the Contemporary/Lyrical division at The USASF Dance Worlds. Erin currently serves as an Adjunct Dance Faculty member at Texas Tech teaching jazz, hip hop, movement analysis and tap. She also works with CLI Studios in Los Angeles providing curriculum for their online training portal. Erin was voted the 2019 National Collegiate Dance Coach of the Year by the National Dance Coaches Association. BRIANA BAISDENBriana Baisden is a veteran Varsity Judge who currently lives in Dallas, Texas. For the past 10 years, she has served as a judge on the high school, college, and All-Star levels judging regional, state, and national competitions. Briana graduated from the University of Alabama and was a member of the University’s dance team, serving as captain her senior year. Currently, she is in her 2nd year with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders where she has had the opportunity to perform for Tyce Diorio, Travis Wall, Charm LaDonna, Meghan Trainor, and Ellie Goulding.

KATHRYN BRASFIELD Legality OfficialKathryn Brasfield is a Knoxville, TN native and has been heavily involved in the dance industry for more than 20 years. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, she was a member and captain of the University’s dance team and earned a degree in Health and Human Performance. She worked as a UDA staff member from 2007-2015, instructing dancers and leading camps all across the US. Kathryn is currently the assistant coach for the dance team at Bearden High School, her alma mater, and has helped lead the team to multiple state championships, national finalist placements, and 3 UDA National Championship titles. In addition to coaching, she choreographs and consults for various school and all-star programs and instructs competitive studio dancers. Her work has earned multiple choreography awards and has helped teams achieve top three finishes at the regional, state, and national level. Kathryn serves as a USASF Legality Official for multiple Varsity Brands events.

SARAH MILLER BATE Legality OfficialSarah Miller Bate has studied dance for over 25 years and received a dual BA degree in Dance and Education from Old Dominion University. She was a 4-time NDA High School All-American and a 3-time NDA Collegiate All-American. Throughout college she worked as a Head Instructor for NDA and after college danced with Norfolk based modern dance companies. She also performed for various International Dance Festivals in NC, KY, Hampton Roads, and NYC. Sarah’s choreographic experience includes working with dancers for the Orange Bowl halftime show and serving as the Assistant Show Director for the halftime show at the Hula Bowl in Maui. She has been judging at the national level for over a decade and has been USASF Safety Certified since the inception of the program. After serving as the Associate Director of Rules and Safety for USASF Dance, Sarah recently accepted a position as the Associate Director of Dance & Communications for the USASF. A 3rd Generation Classical Pilates teacher and developer of Barre Body, Sarah has worked with Olympic athletes and dancers from the Washington Ballet, building proper movement pathways and aiding in injury recovery.

KRISTY BREINLINGERKristy Breinlinger started her dance training at the age of three. Throughout her dance career she was highly competitive in her studio where she won numerous team and individual awards. She was captain/choreographer of her high school dance team, which won 1st place at UDA NDTC her senior year. Kristy also worked as a UDA high school/collegiate instructor. At Florida State University, Kristy was captain of the Golden Girls dance team. She graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in Dietetics/Nutrition and a minor in Psychology. Kristy has judged the USASF Dance Worlds and Varsity Dance Summit, as well as National Championships at the High School, All-Star, & Collegiate levels for UDA, NDA, ICU, The Groove Experience, One Up, Spirit Sports and WSF. Currently, Kristy continues to develop her dance education by participating in classes of higher education to maintain today’s dance industry standards.

RACHEL DOMANGUELegality OfficialRachel Domangue, originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, is the former Director of the National Dance Alliance. With an extensive background in high school and college dance team, Rachel’s BFA in Performing Arts-Dance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has allowed her to network with all facets of the dance industry. She has worked all over the U.S. as a dance team coach, choreographer and studio teacher. She has been honored to judge for Champion Spirit Group, JCDA at the All Japan Cheer and Dance Championship in Tokyo, UDA’s NDTC, as well as serve as a Legality Official at the USASF Dance Worlds. Rachel is currently living in Dallas, Texas, serves on the Rules Committee of the USASF, and works as a consultant, speaker, instructor and adjudicator at conferences and competitions across the US.

BRIAN CAOBrian Cao has been involved in the spirit industry for over 20 years on the school, all-star, collegiate and professional levels. He has been affiliated with NCA/NDA for the last 23 years and has contributed to both NCA and NDA’s summer curriculum as a choreographer and consultant. In 2007 & 2008, Brian served as a Co-Show Director for the Thanksgiving in Paradise Halftime Show in Hawaii, and his choreography opportunities have taken him all around the world, including to England, Finland and Japan. In 2010, Brian received the coveted Herkie Legacy Award for his contributions to NCA/NDA, The Work is Worth It Award in 2016, and most recently, the 2019 NCA Heart & Soul Award. Brian’s dance resume includes performing with several companies in Oregon, including three seasons with the NBA Portland Trailblazers Jam Squad. He currently works as a choreographer and consultant to cheer and dance teams of all levels and was the choreographer for Team England Freestyle Pom in 2018. In his limited free time away from training, he travels the world speaking at conferences, judging for major cheer and dance events, and is a 4-time judge for The USASF Dance Worlds.

STACY GARRASTAZUStacy Garrastazu brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the dance industry with over 30 years of experience. Traveling all over the country to competitions, conventions, and workshops, she stays at the forefront of what is new and cutting-edge in this industry. Stacy currently teaches master classes and choreography to select organizations and sits on the legality and judging panels for Varsity All-Star, JamBrands, JAMZ, Champion Cheer Central, Pennsylvania Elite, Champion Spirit Group and sits on the USASF Dance Worlds Hip Hop Judging Panel. Her extended background of Pom, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop have made her an asset to many studio, school, collegiate and all-star organizations.

DONNI FRAZIER Legality OfficialDonni Frazier is currently the Director of Entertainment for the Atlanta Hawks. The Florida native joined the Hawks organization in 2004. Since that time, she has managed the Atlanta Hawks Cheerleaders, Jr. Hawks Cheerleaders, Hawks Spirit Squad, A-Team Dancers, as well as the Atlanta Thrashers Blue Crew. Donni is a graduate of the University of Florida, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications. She studied ballet, tap, jazz and modern while growing up in Panama City, FL. At the University of Florida, Donni was a two-year member of the University of Florida Dazzlers Dance Team. Within a year of graduation, she took over the helm becoming the coach of the Dazzlers Dance Team. She later became the coordinator of the University of Florida Spirit Program, coordinating and coaching the dancers, cheerleaders and mascots for nine years before heading to Atlanta.

JILL HALLER Jill Haller is the Director of Dance at Magnificat in Rocky River, Ohio. Magnificat is the third college-prep school she has designed dance curriculum for and is regularly recognized as a leader in dance education across the nation because of her outstanding direction within these programs. Jill is a current adjudicator and education contributor for USASF. She also regularly serves as a competition educator/adjudicator for various competition companies. Haller is originally from California, where she received her BA in Theatre Choreography from Concordia University. She has choreographed over 50 professional musicals and has received numerous awards for her musical theatre choreography in Los Angeles, and throughout her dance coaching career. In 2006, Jill received a Senate Resolution from the State of Ohio for her outstanding work in dance education. In recent years, Jill was recognized for best musical choreography by the Dazzle Awards, in partnership with the National HS Musical Theatre Awards in NYC for ANNIE, CATS and FOOTLOOSE.

MELISSA KIDDMelissa Kidd has over 3 decades of training in the areas of ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary/lyrical, pom, hip hop, kick and acro as well as over 15 years of instruction/choreography experience in over 30 studios and schools across the United States. Miss Kidd currently owns a Cincinnati based dance and fine arts center. She has worked with cast members of the Netflix series Ultimate Beastmaster which premiered in August of 2018. Melissa danced for/trained under the Manhattan Dance Project. She has also choreographed and performed shows for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and the rapper “Gyfted”. Her choreography has been featured on ESPN and Fox Sports Network. Melissa holds multiple certifications including judging and early childhood dance education. Melissa enjoys splitting her time between teaching and judging competitions for all-star dance and the studio dance circuit, where she has served as a judging coordinator/trainer.

KRISTIN BEST KINSCHERFFKristin Best Kinscherff is the Director of Dance and an Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville as well as the Artistic Director of the SIUE University Dance Company. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from the University of Iowa. Kristin is a former company member with The Big Muddy Dance Company in St. Louis, MO and is the Artistic Director of Turn of Change Dance Collective based in the St. Louis Metro-Area. Kristin has a certification in Autism Movement Therapy© and has developed a dance curriculum for children with special needs. Kristin has over 15 years of experience as an adjudicator for dance and has judged competitions with UDA, NDA, and the USASF Dance Worlds.

JESSIKA LEONARD Jessika Leonard has over 30 years of dance training, judging, and instructing experience, including her role as the Director of Judging at numerous dance competitions. As a dancer, she studied alongside world-renowned dancers in NYC and received numerous accolades including her acceptance to the Minnesota Conservatory of Art. Jessika has performed and choreographed for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Walt Disney World, College Bowl Games, and several NFL half-time shows. As an accomplished dancer, she later chose to share her passion for dance by coaching high school and all-star teams, whom consistently made appearances in the state finals and captured national top honors. Jessika now focuses her efforts speaking at conventions and also conducts private workshops with teams and coaches. Jessika’s has extensive experience judging state, national, and international competitions, including multiple years with The USASF Dance Worlds.

CHRISTINA LEONEChristina Leone, a Colorado native, is in her 16th year coaching and 11th year as head coach at Rock Canyon High School. She previously coached five seasons at Ponderosa High School and four years directing a competitive All-Star program. Her teams have earned numerous regional and state titles, are perennial finalists at UDA Nationals & most recently earned two Bronze medals at the 2020 NDTC. In 2018, Rock Canyon was named as the Varsity Brands American Spirit Leader Award winner. As a coach, Christina has been honored as the 2015 National winner of the Double-Goal Coach from the Positive Coaching Alliance and the 2016 Coach of the Year by the Colorado HS Coaches Association. Christina grew up as competitive figure skater and dancer before joining her high school and college dance teams. Outside of coaching, Christina is an active adjudicator, committee member, conference speaker and judges for The USASF Dance Worlds, numerous National Championships for UDA, NDA, USA, GSSA, Dance Summit, Jamfest and Jamfest Japan.

ANDREA MASTERSAndrea Masters has been a coach, instructor, judge, and choreographer for 30 years. Her background includes training in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, tap, gymnastics, and has extensive training in her areas of expertise, which are hip hop and pom. As the former Assistant Coach of the University of Kentucky Dance Team, Andrea helped them rise to become a top 3 team in the nation in Hip Hop at UDA. She also danced for the University of Kentucky herself, where she was a part of the 1995 NDA National Dance Champion squad. Andrea has been a UDA Instructor, as well as, an NDA College Instructor. She has choreographed for several national award-winning programs in the country. Andrea judges for both National and International events, and this was her 6th season judging the USASF Dance Worlds Championship.

SARAH MCALLISTER Sarah McAllister is a national championship award winning dance team coach and choreographer from San Diego, California. As a high school coach, she led her team to two national titles in Team Performance and multiple top three finishes in Pom. She has been a professional dance adjudicator since 2010, judging for brands which include NDA, UDA, USA, JAMZ, The USASF Dance Worlds and JDCA (Tokyo). Other achievements include choreography for Legoland Entertainment, teaching in Japan and coaching at San Diego State University. Currently, she is a contributing writer to the Jo+Jax blog and Inside Dance Magazine and she continues to choreograph and consult for competitive high school and collegiate teams across the U.S.

MELISSA MCGHEE A native of Toledo, Ohio, Melissa McGhee is a graduate of The Ohio State University where she obtained a B.A. in Business Administration. She is the current Head Coach of The Ohio State University Dance Team. Under her direction, the team has consistently placed in the top five in Jazz and Pom at the UDA Collegiate National Championship. The team won the program’s first ever National Championship in 2018 and has four total to date. After sixteen years of studio training, she now choreographs and consults for dance studios and teams nationally and judges for numerous dance competitions including NDA, UDA, AmeriDance, Showcase America, OASSA, and USASF. Melissa has been a speaker at the Varsity Dance Coaches Conference, National Dance Coaches Association Conference and provided coaches education classes for CLI Studios.

MICHELE MORGANMichele Morgan is a veteran judge, choreographer, and former coach with over 15 years in the industry. Michele was captain of the UK Dance Team when she was completing her undergraduate degree in accounting. She was a cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals and coached the USC Dance Team while obtaining her MBA. She later started the UMKC Dance Team and led them to win their first NDA National Championship. In addition to her dance background, she is also a national marketing director at RSM and group fitness instructor.

CHERYL PAQUETTE Head Judge Cheryl Paquette has been involved in the dance industry for over 30 years. She is trained in ballet, tap, jazz and pointe and spent 6 years as a company member with Gateway Ballet Co. in St. Louis, MO. As a graduate of the University of Missouri, she earned an NDA National Championship title with the Mizzou Golden Girls dance team. She is a former NFL St. Louis Rams Cheerleader and NBA Dallas Mavericks Dancer, was choreographer and head instructor for the National Dance Alliance; spent 7 years as an NDA Event Director and Curriculum Director and received the Herkie Legacy Award in 2017. In addition, Cheryl has choreographed and field produced numerous special event half time shows during her tenure. Currently, Cheryl is the NDA Judging Coordinator and USASF Dance Adjudication Director and Pom Panel Director at The USASF Dance Worlds. Cheryl enjoys judging for many national and international Event Producers.

KIERSTIN PAYNE Legality Official Kierstin Payne has instructed dance for over 30 years, including coaching for over 13 years within the All Star community. She has provided support and served on various USASF boards, including the National Advisory Board, Dance Worlds Advisory Board, and Dance Rules Committee. Kierstin’s service on the Rules Committee began in 2011 and she has been a certified legality official since the inception of the program. She has served as legality official at high school and All Star events including regional, national and Worlds bid events.

TEGAN REEVESTegan Jemma Reeves, PhD, is a movement professional with 22 years of instruction, adjudication, and scholarship. Tegan studied dance at Iowa State University, earning recognition as a company member and scholarship performer while traveling globally speaking, teaching classes, camps, and training coaches and judges. Acknowledged as a leader in the spirit industry, Tegan is the former Executive Director of USASF Dance and The Dance Worlds where she founded the dance rules and credentialing. She currently teaches bodyART, yoga, and aerial/acrobatic dance in addition to her research on embodied literacy.

BONITA SALDANABonita Saldana’s influence is recognized from the streets to the stage. Hailing from Phoenix, AZ, her professional career originated as a member of the Phoenix Mercury Hip-Hop Squad and the Phoenix Suns Dance Team. Known globally as, “Bgirl Bonita”, she has performed with artists such as: Jason Derulo, P. Diddy, Black Eyed Peas, Sean Kingston, Fergie, Jamiroquai and is a member of three of the most legendary, world-famous and credible names in Hip-Hop dance: The Rock Steady Crew, The Groovaloos and The Beat Freaks. She has also been featured on Disney, Nickelodeon, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and MTV’s Made. Bonita has been teaching, adjudicating, lecturing, and choreographing professionally for over 17 years. She is beyond grateful for the launch of her dance studio in Phoenix, AZ, The Studance LAB, where her students bridge street dance and classical foundations, birthing a diverse generation of performers.

MORGAN SCHULTEMorgan Schulte has over 20 years of experience in the dance industry as a teacher and choreographer. Currently she is in her 4th season dancing professionally for the NBA Memphis Grizzlies. She was a 7-year head instructor for UDA camps at the high school and collegiate levels and has traveled internationally with UDA for special events. Morgan judges many competitions for various brands, including The USASF Dance Worlds. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she earned degrees in Exercise Science and Dietetics, and has a Master’s degree in Nutrition from Saint Louis University. She fuses dance with her other passions of health, wellness, and nutrition as a speaker on these topics throughout the country. She is a kickboxing instructor, Orangetheory Fitness coach, and a dietitian and fitness coach through her own business, Motivate.

HEATHER LANGHAM SCHWARTZHeather Langham has just completed her 11th season with The Radio City Rockettes, performing in the Christmas Spectacular and nine Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades. Heather graduated from Arizona State University where she was on the dance team and captain her senior year. Heather has worked for the National Dance Alliance for 22 years as a Head Instructor, choreographer and adjudicator at both the college and high school level. She has over 17 years of experience as an adjudicator at multiple events including: The USASF Dance Worlds, NDA Nationals, NDA All-Star Nationals, NDA College Nationals, COP Brands, USA All Star Nationals and many other state and regional competitions. Her choreography has been seen on nationally ranked collegiate and high school dance teams across the county. Heather is also a proud ambassador for Dancers Against Cancer and firmly believes that we need bring more awareness and funding to childhood cancer as well as Alexanders Disease. #RoxForACause

CAROLINE SMITH Scoring Official Caroline Smith has been the Safety and Scoring Official for the National Dance Alliance for 14 seasons. Prior to that she was an NCA/NDA Instructor and Head Instructor for 10 years, and an NCA/NDA Event Director for three years. She is a proud recipient of the Herkie Legacy Award for her time with NCA/NDA. Caroline served as Show Director and Choreographer for the Orange Bowl Pre-Game Show for five years, as well served on the production staff for the Hula Bowl Halftime Show. She currently works as an Assistant Director for the County of San Diego and enjoys spending time at the beach with her Labrador and equally wild 4-year old son.

MEGAN MILES STEWARTMegan Miles Stewart has been studying dance for over 20 years and is currently based out of New York City where she trains at Broadway Dance Center and Peridance Capezio Studio. Growing up, she was involved in musical theatre, acted and danced in commercials and was a competitive dancer in many styles including winning national high kick championships. After high school, she was selected as an instructor with Universal Dance Association and worked for the company teaching and leading summer camps for 10 years, creating choreography for dance teams and assisting parade performances during holidays at Disney World and New Year’s Day in London. Most recently, she was a contemporary dancer with Danceworks NYC and a hip hop crew dancer with Mint Dance Company. She is currently a Show Director and Event Manager with Spotlight Dance Cup.

JENNY DURBIN SMITH Jenny Durbin Smith is a nationally recognized and award-winning choreographer. She is a former member of the UNC-Chapel Hill cheer and dance teams and a former captain for the NBA Dallas Mavericks Dancers. Jenny has been a principle dancer for many national projects and her choreography has been featured on major network TV shows, national television commercials, industrials, films, reality television shows, NFL fields and NBA courts. In addition to being the proud director of the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue, the only co-ed hip hop dance crew in the NFL, she is the Director of the Dallas Cowboys Rookie Squad, a choreographer with Varsity Pro and travels the country choreographing and master instructing for numerous dance organizations, professional teams and studios. Jenny also proudly serves on the hip hop score sheet advisory boards for NDA and USASF.

MICHELLE VAUGHNMichelle Vaughn is a professional dancer/choreographer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Working in the commercial dance industry, she has had the opportunity to dance and work with artists and companies such as Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, Becky G, Oscars, Latin Grammys, Google, and Nickelodeon. Michelle is an alumni of the Monsters of Hip Hop cast as well as faculty for the convention. Her choreography can be seen on many NBA and NFL teams across the Pro Dance world and also on Pro Action convention. Michelle is a nationally ranked choreographer for numerous high school and college dance teams across the country. Her experience as a dancer and choreographer allows her to bring a level of expertise from both worlds into her work.

TAMI WHATCOTTTami Whatcott graduated from Utah Valley University with a BFA in Modern Dance and a BS in Dance Education. She has been a member of Synergy Dance Company, Contemporary Dance Ensemble, UVU Ballroom Tour Team, and danced as well as coached for the Utah Flash. Other notable professional companies include Diavolo, Joel Hall Dancers, Noumenon Dance Ensemble, and Myriad Dance Company. She has been trained in ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and ballroom. Tami has judged, performed, and taught in over 15 different countries and has done choreography for professional NBA teams, dance companies, and numerous different studio’s and award-winning high schools.

JARRIN ROLLE WARRENJarrin Rolle Warren has been in the dance industry for over 30 years. She is a recognized dance coach/director, instructor, and choreographer with works ranging from mini to collegiate and professional. She has judged for numerous dance companies and competitions nationally and internationally and has received choreography awards in hip hop, pom and jazz. Some of Jarrin’s accomplishments include Dance Performance Assistant of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Half Time Performance Coordinator/Choreographer for the New Jersey Nets, Dance Camp Instructor/Choreographer Japan, Dance Assistant for the Aloha Bowl Hawaii, Production Assistant for Thanksgiving in Paris France, and is a veteran judge at The USASF Dance Worlds, Varsity Summit Judge and CopBrand Mexico.

WANDA BROWN WEIR Wanda Brown Weir is the former 3-year Director/Choreographer of the NBA Washington Wizards Dance Team. Prior to joining the Wizards Dance Team as a dancer in 2003, Wanda was a member of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders for two years. Wanda worked as an instructor and head instructor for Universal Dance Association for seven years while also working as a territory manager for UDA and sales representative with Varsity Spirit Fashion. Wanda is also the former captain/choreographer of the multi-time national championed Towson University Dance Team and former coach of the George Washington University “First Ladies” Dance Team. For over twenty years, Wanda has judged for many local, state and national competitions including The Dance Worlds (10 year veteran judge), UDA and NDA high school, all-star and collegiate championships & nationals. Currently, Wanda is Owner/Creative Director for Premier Dance DC, Head Dance Team Coach for Catholic University and a sought-after dance fitness consultant, speaker and motivational coach.

MAGGIE ALLAIN WHITEMaggie Allain White is a Louisiana native and former New Orleans Saints NFL Cheerleader from Lafayette, LA. Maggie graduated from Louisiana State University with her B.S. in Sports Commerce and a minor in Business. She is currently a Studio Director in Lafayette and is responsible for overseeing social media and creating curriculum for 35 weekly classes in the areas of Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap and Creative Movement. She is also the former dance team coach and choreographer for the LSU Laboratory School in Baton Rouge, LA. Maggie has judged numerous high school, state, college and national dance competitions and she is also a certified USASF Dance Legality Official.
