E. Lubrication There are four bearings that require greasing. Two bearings hold the flywheel pulley in place and two more bearings, one on each end of the connecting rod for the actuating blade. These four bearings require greasing every 10 hours of operation. Use a high quality lithium based grease, but use extreme caution not to pump the grease in too hard or bearing seal destruction may occur. Also grease the blade actuating lever and the clutch pulley mount periodically to insure smooth operation. A spray lubricant may also be used on the cable and lever assemblies to keep them operating smoothly. (WD40 or equivalent)

F. Slides Slide bushings should be lubricated with high quality lithium based grease every two hours of operation.

6. The Controls 1. Throttle control lever: Controls the engine on-off, speed and choke. 2. Direction control lever: Controls machine movement, forward, neutral or reverse. 3. Clutch lever: Controls the engagement of the transaxle. These levers must be squeezed (disengaging transaxle) when moving the machine. The left lever engages/disengages the left wheel, and the right lever engages/disengages the right wheel. 4. Blade Actuator lever: Controls the actuating ( Back and forth) movement of the blade. This lever has two positions. All the way up is disengaged (off) position. All the way down is the engaged (activated) position.

All controls are mounted on or near the handlebar for easy access and ease of operation.

7. Machine Operation Clear the work area of all debris or obstacles that could cause personal injury to operator or others. Prepare the area to be torn off by sweeping the gravel clear and cutting the roofing material in to squares for easy handling. Keep in mind ideal square size for use with trash chutes is approximately 21”. If trash chute is not a consideration, an ideal size would be about 30” square. After pre-cutting work area, position the Rhino where the work is to be started. Pry up the first square by hand and position the blade of the Rhino to come in contact with the next square of the tear-off.

Keep hands and feet away from moving parts. Stop forward movement and actuating blade (if engaged) when personnel are removing tear-off debris from the machine tear-off ramp. Make sure that vibrations from machinery will not cause damage to ceiling materials or injury to personnel underneath the roof.

7. Machine Operation (cont.)

A. Start machine.

B. Move direction control lever forward and hold, to move forward. Allow the blade of the Rhino to pry-up the material and slide up the ramp.

C. Additional personnel can pick up the material off the ramp and load on to carts for transport to dump area.

D. If a particularly difficult area is encountered in the tear-off job, the actuator blade should be used. To engage the actuating ( moving) blade, move the actuating lever down to the engaged position. Then hold the directional control lever forward to move ahead. The moving blade will pry-up the toughest jobs with a knife like action. Only use this feature when necessary.

E. Blade Pitch Adjustment : Blade pitch can be adjusted to cut lower than the standard depth set by the manufacturer. First loosen the two bolts on the outside of the blade. Then loosen the two jam nuts on the underneath side of the blade. Turn in on both adjustments bolts on the outside of the blade and recheck performance.

F. When working on a metal deck the machine should tear-off materials in line with the flutes of the roof. Do not tear-off at right angles to the flutes or damage could result to roof deck. Also run your tear-off machine “with the grain” of the seams. Do not run the machine so that the blade drives into a seam, but rather plane the tear-off coming from the other direction.

8. Maintenance Caution: Disconnect spark plug before working on machine. Lubrication: Grease the four bearings every ten hours of operation. Grease blade actuator lever and

clutch pulley mounts periodically. A high quality lithium-based multi purpose grease is

recommended. Use extreme care not to pump grease into bearings too hard. Destruction

of the bearing seals will result. Lever assemblies require a spray lubricant (such as WD40)

to keep operating properly. Slide bushings should be lubricated with high quality lithium

based grease every two hours of operation.

Engine:

Read your engine maintenance manual. To prolong the life of your engine, change engine

oil after the first five hours of use then every eight hours of operation. Unleaded gasoline is

recommended to prolong valve life. In dusty conditions it is extremely important to keep

the engine clean. Keep engine clean from dirt and dust and inspect cylinder head fins,

blower housing, rotating screen and muffler areas. Failure to properly maintain the engine

may result in overheating and ultimately in engine failure.

The engine is equipped with a removable foam hat air filter. This filter must be kept clean

at all times. Inspect the filter hourly for buildup of dust and debris. To clean remove the

filter on the rewind starter be sure to line up with the pull rope so it will not catch when

pulling the starter handle. If the filter becomes torn or otherwise damaged, replace

immediately to avoid possible engine damage. Secure in place with rubber straps. If

service or repair to your engine is needed, contact an authorized engine service center.

You will need the model, type and serial number of your engine, Panther Products

Corporation does not cover the engine which is covered by a separate warranty from the

engine manufacturer.
