As always, all Tri Deltas are encouraged to submit news and stories to The Trident. Sisters are encouraged to share their experiences, highlights, and accomplishments. Please contact The Trident editorial team via e-mail [email protected] for submissions and additional information. This summer, we have already begun utilizing MailChimp to keep sisters attuned to any upcoming events. We will also be sending out a monthly e-newsletter, filled with recaps from past events, updates from our philanthropic efforts, and most importantly, a new monthly Sister Spotlight section to acknowledge and highlight women of our extraordinary local chapter. If you would like to be featured, we would love to celebrate you! Most importantly, please remember to add [email protected] to your address book, so we can all may remain connected. If you are able to add our Gmail address, you will also have easy access and reminders to our upcoming calendar events. We continually update our chapter website, which is www.ftlauderdalebroward.tridelta.org, with upcoming dates and past photos from various Tri Delta gatherings around the county. Regarding social media visibility, our chapter now has an Instagram account. Please follow us @browardtrideltaalumnae. Also, the Broward Tri Delta Alumnae Facebook page has been very active and will continue to be throughout the year. Please take a moment to like our page, and peruse through the various posts to better familiarize yourself with what our chapter has been up to lately. The Communications Chairs have found that our participation with Instagram and Facebook have enabled the chapter to not only be more visible to one another, but also to other chapters and potential new members. Looking forward to a wonderful year, Erika Cruz, Boston University Ashley Wildman, University of Pittsburgh Co-VPs of Communications President’s Message As the new Chapter President, I hope to provide dynamic leadership and vision to help move our Alumnae Chapter of Tri Delta to greater levels of growth and influence. Working in partnership with our Chapter Officers, I look to bring direction and guidance in the development of goals and objectives for our chapter. I felt both honored and privileged to represent our chapter at the 2016 Tri Delta Convention. It was a great opportunity to connect with collegiates and alumnae from across the United States and Canada and form new bonds of sisterhood. I took this opportunity to learn what other chapters are doing in their areas for membership development and fundraising efforts and found the Convention as a whole to be very inspiring. I hope to bring this inspiration to our chapter! We have many new initiatives for membership growth, philanthropic service and membership payment options that we will be implementing this year along with some new programing that I’m sure you will enjoy! In addition to our website and Facebook page, we will now feature a monthly e-newsletter that will recap events and highlight our sisters and philanthropic activities, so stay tuned… This is all in an effort to improve communication and foster the bonds of sisterhood. Whether you are new to the area or looking to rekindle your relationship with Tri Delta, we welcome you to our chapter and challenge you to get involved and make a difference in our community, the lives of our sisters and the children of St. Jude! FALL 2016/SPRING 2017 THE PANSY PRESS

Since the early 1970s Tri Delta’s chosen philanthropy has been children’s cancer charities. This philanthropic cause has encompassed a wide array of charitable organizations. In 1999, Tri Delta formed a national philanthropic partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This partnership has allowed members and chapters to support St. Jude’s mission of finding cures and saving children. Over the years, Tri Delta has raised more than $38 million for the hospital and in July 2014 it announced it’s most recent fundraising commitment of $60 million in 10 years — the single largest fundraising commitment in St. Jude’s history. One way our Chapter will get involved is by participating in St Jude’s Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer. Last year our team was the Grand Marshalls for the Palm Beach County Walk/Run and we raised $3,815 for St. Jude… Way to go Broward Tri Deltas! This year, let’s increase our efforts and set a goal of $5,000! Join our team “Broward Tri Delta Alumnae” and help make a difference! Our Team Captain will be Jacqueline Browne, our Chapter President. To register or make a donation go to:

The Walk/Run will take place on Saturday, September 24th at John Prince Park (4759 S. Congress Ave; Lake Worth, FL 33461) in Palm Beach County. This is a great opportunity for sisters to come together with friends and family to support a cause that is so important to Tri Delta. Hope to see you there! Be sure to engage by using and

Collegiates and Alumnae from all across the United States and Canada joined together in Phoenix, AZ over the 4th of July weekend for the 2016 Tri Delta Convention. Convention is the supreme governing body of Tri Delta. Through delegates, individual Tri Deltas have a voice in the establishment of polices and procedures governing the Fraternity. Our chapter delegate was our President, Jacqueline Browne. In addition to informing delegates on what the Foundation and Executive Board worked on over the 2014-16 biennium, delegates attended workshops, leadership development and award ceremonies. Delegates also legislated over 45 amendments, all of which were passed after some heated debate. A complete listing of all the amendments and reports from Convention can be found on Tri Delta’s national website:

During the 2014-16 biennium, steps were taken to advance Tri Delta’s Purpose and to sustain our sisterhood for future generations. The focus was placed on realigning Tri Delta’s entities for more efficient and effective operations, as well as stronger collaboration. As a result, The Center for Living, Learning and Leading was dissolved in 2015 and the Center’s functions were integrated into the Fraternity (educational programs) and the Foundation (fundraising and housing campaigns). At that time, the Executive Board, along with the Foundation Board of Trustees, National House Corporation Board and Tri Delta’s Executive Leadership Team, developed three overarching, enterprise goals to help guide Tri Delta’s work: • Operate Tri Delta’s collegiate and alumnae chapters and the entities that

support them effectively and efficiently • Ensure a relevant and meaningful lifetime membership experience for Tri

Delta’s members • Sustain and grow our sisterhood in accordance with our Founders’ Purpose

The Executive Board worked on a strategic plan framework, designed to inform business and budget planning for the enterprise. The Board engaged an outside consultant to assist in the development of this framework and to reinvigorate Tri Delta’s brand. Aligning the brand work with the strategic planning project proved extremely beneficial and helped shape the framework, which was launched at the 2016 Convention. In addition, the Executive Board charged its Standing Committees and staff with a focus on efficient and effective operations, the member experience and growth. The Board also commissioned a number of Innovation Teams to work on specific organizational issues and challenges, and the National Panhellenic Conference Delegation with working on challenges facing our Panhellenic communities. Similarly, the Board tasked staff with exploring various areas of the Fraternity’s business, including extension, recruitment, large chapter operations, struggling chapter interventions and Tri Delta’s policies and procedures. Together, we are ensuring that Tri Delta – and the perpetual bonds of friendship our members share – continues to thrive. #WeAreTriDelta
