Kits and Upgrades Product Technical Bulletin PanelMate/Potentiometer Interfaces (Upgrade To PanelView Kit) Effected Equipment – Machines made prior to the 1999. (Advanced Dough Dividers, KRdIIe Bun Dividers, Pan-O-Mat Plus, and ABS Bun Systems. Upgrade Summary: PanelMate Terminals…
Are obsolete, not very energy efficient, limited communications protocols (are not Ethernet Capable), don’t offer high resolution graphic display, cannot produce data logging, expressions, trending information or animations.
Potentiometer/Rotary Dial Control Panels… Cannot display real time information about the process to the operator, which means less control. Less reliable and there are more parts to replace. This is really yesterday’s technology!
Recommended Action:
“Customers need to be ready for the increased demands of having real- time production, manufacturing and machine performance data information that can be utilized across the whole manufacturing platform by upgrading their operator interfaces the current standard.”
PanelView Standard/PanelView Plus Terminals offer:
Brighter displays, energy efficient LCD technology, can produce data logging, expressions, trending information, and animation. Flexible communication protocols.
Most customers (with ADD, KRdIIe machines), will use either a PanelView 1000 Standard or Plus Interface for the upgrade. It is possible to use a PanelView 1250 which is slightly larger, but will fit in the same box enclosure. They will also most likely need processor upgrades if they haven’t already. These older system have old obsolete Allen Bradley 5/01, 5/02 Processors. Pan-O-Mat Plus customers in most cases will have PanelMate with dual displays and will need processor and box enclosure upgrades as well. Automatic Bun Systems or “ABS” systems will be upgrading from a Potentiometer/Rotary Dial Control Interface and also have the old Allen Bradley “Dataliner” information display. They most certainly will need processor, firmware, new interface and box enclosure with new start, stop pushbuttons, etc., to receive this upgrade kit. ***All of the above will require at least an Allen Bradley 5/03 up to 5/05 Processor.

The PanelView Plus family starts with4-inch grayscale terminals with keypadinput as the smallest, lowest costalternative. Larger, TFT color displaysup to 15-inch are available to allow moreinformation to be displayed on a singlescreen or be seen from a longer distance.Input can optionally be the smaller, moreintuitive touch screens, a keypad forincreased display longevity in harshenvironments, or a combination of both.***requires software,�rmware upgrade .
