Why Modular?Good Question. The trend to purchase and utilize

modular building systems is increasing

with no end in sight and for good

reason. By pre-engineering, designing,

and prefabricating in an automated

controlled environment, we are able

to provide you greater value over

conventional construction methods.

How can modular, prefabricated buildings produce greater value?

• Controlled factory environment– no on-site weather problems,

vandalism, theft, or set-up time.

and pre-inspection of material by

trained personnel.

•Trained production workers –more efficient than mobile and

untrained field construction workers.

•Quality control – Inspection for

pre-established tolerances and

quality standards.

•Organized production labor –

Set-up time is minimized, limiting

sub-contractor coordination.

•Engineering and designs –

produced with standards that are

set forth prior to starting production.

•Value adding designs –

standardized for the most

economical solutions and fast

production process.

Case Study North American StainlessA large steel producing mill in Kentucky

North American Stainlessneeded a quality contolinspection “pulpit” whereoperators could examinenew sheets of steel forimperfections.

Panel Built and AlbaManufacturing came upwith a uniqe solution.

Challenge: Around-the-clockinspectors at NA Stainless neededa safe and comfortable environ-ment to check steel sheeting forimperfections, with minimal dis-ruption to the line. They choseAlba Manufacturing to help them.

Solution: Alba came to Panel Builtwith the basic requirements for theproject, and Panel Built’s Engineering Department rose to the challenge. Theydesigned a unique structure that had cut-outs for the steel sheeting to be feddirectly through the bottom of the building, passing by high speed cameras thatdetect any imperfections. The steel then goes through the roof to an outsideroller and returns through the roof on the opposite side, where an operator canstop the line and personally inspect the steel in question before it continuesdown the line to be put on rolls and stored.

The building is fully air conditioned and maintains a constant temperature of 72degrees even though the steel is 115 degrees when passing through. There arecustom brush wipers on all four openings to help keep the air in an almost pos-itive pressure situation.Project Specs: 23x25 mezzanine with custom cut-outs and a 14’ deck height.Mezzanine supports a 23x25 stucco embossed aluminum control cabin with cus-tom cut-outs. Building panels were powdercoated to match the mezzanine.

Case StudyNemak - Dickson, TNManufacturer of automotive aluminum products. This facility is

home to over 420 employees.

The resurgence of theautomotive industrybrought new life to thisTennessee plant. Nemakneeded to accommodateincreased customerorders by freeing upadditional space for rackstorage. They choseKMH Systems and Panel Built to create the perfect solution.

Challenge: A world leader in automotive aluminum

products, Nemak needed more storage space to keep

up with customer demand. The increased business

meant space was at a premium.

This facility ran 1500 degree furnacess to melt the

aluminum used for cylinder heads. Installation

would be challenging because temperatures in the

factory frequently reached over 110 degrees.

Solution: Nemak went to KMH Systems for a solution to their problem. KMH

recommended an elevated office system for personnel, with plenty of space

underneath for the rack storage area they needed.

Panel Built Delivers: KMH chose Panel Built to design, manufacture and install

a modular office system on a 16 foot tall mezzanine. The entire system was up

within a month of the purchase order.

Project Specs: Two

12x48 modular office

systems with a 3 foot

corridor in between.

The mezzanine system

measured 27x48 with a

16 foot deck height and

an IBC stair system for

access.

Case StudyRobins Air Force Base-GAHome of Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, the 78thAir Base Wing, and more than 60 other Air Force units.

Robins AFB needed additional office space, and they needed it fast. They chose Panel Built toprovide four three-story in-plant offices with custom stair systems.

The first of four, this project was up ahead of schedule.

Challenge: To design and con-struct four modular office sys-tems that would maximize workspace, while preserving valuablefloor space in the base hangers. The structures had to be weath-ertight, placed on uneven floors, and capable of withstanding 50 mph wind loads. The systems also had to meet theAir Force’s tight time constraints for construction.

Solution: Panel Built met with Air Force personnel to understand their goals and spe-cial needs for this project. Several building options were submitted. After some mod-ifications, a three story in-plant system was designed that met all of their requirements.

Panel Built Delivers: Panel Built provided stamped and engineered drawings andhad the first system in place with-in six weeks, including demolitionof an existing structure and pour-ing a concrete slab for the base.

Project Specs: 24’x38’ x 31’4”high three story in-plant officesystem with HVAC, sprinklersystem and fire alarm. Custompowder coated IBC stair systemwith three landings.
