What are pancakes?

A pancake is a thin, flat, round cake prepared from

a batter.

Pancake day or “Shrove Tuesday” is a religious day

before Lent begins.

This year it is on Tuesday 17th February.

People couldn’t eat eggs, milk and sugar during Lent

so they used the ingredients to make pancakes.
