Palm Harbor has been luring new residents to its naturally rich sun soaked location in Pinellas County for quite a long time. Settlements in the area that would become Palm Harbor date back to the latter part of the nineteenth century. Many of the early buildings remain in and around the downtown area. Their timeless charm has fit into the numerous identities that Palm Harbor has tried out over the years. From its origins as a pioneer settlement and farming community to a college town and epicenter for tourism and community development, Palm Harbor has stood the test of time and flourished. The mostly residential community of East Lake is located on the eastern side of Lake Tarpon. It is comprised of the sub-communities of East Lake Woodlands, Lansbrook, Ridgemoor, Woodfield, Boot Ranch and Tarpon Woods. The vast open expanses of pasture land gives the area a country meets suburban sort of vibe. Subdivisions and plazas of commerce and local businesses neatly dot the well-manicured tree lined thoroughfare of East Lake Road. The area is also well known for its beautiful and pristine parks. One such gorgeous natural attribute to the community is the 255 acre John Chesnut Sr. Park, which offers beautiful views of Lake Tarpon and numerous amenities such as picnic shelters, a boat ramp and playgrounds. Another is the 8,000 acre Brooker Creek Preserve.
