Produces electricity with virtually
no greenhouse gas emissions
Nuclear energy produces 91 percent of Michigan’s emission-free electricity and is the only clean-air
source that can produce large amounts of electricity around the clock.
Nearly 25 million metric tons of carbon dioxide are avoided by Michigan’s nuclear energy facilities, which equals what would be released in a year by more than 4.8 million passenger cars, more than all the registered
cars in the state.
Palisades provides more than 800 megawatts of safe, clean, vital energy to Southwest Michigan. Nuclear
energy is a price-stable source and does not fl uctuate like natural gas prices or other fossil fuels. Michigan’s
four nuclear energy facilities generate over 27 percent of the state’s electricity.
