Symptoms

• Discomforts in the high arches or flat feet• Tenderness in the heel or even in the entire foot• Mild redness or swelling in your foot• Tightness or stiffness of the arch areas of your foot• Feeling pain after sitting or standing for some time• Pain with walking, standing and whilst negotiating stairs• Pain with running (specially on uneven surfaces)• Tightness in calf muscles

Causes: - The main cause appears to be overuse of the Arch or PF and or poor and inadequate support for these structures (Poor footwear and biomechanics). If not taken care with proper medical intervention, or physical intervention the body condition will show more degenerative changes, instead of inflammatory changes. This severe condition is known to be as ‘Plantar Fasciosis’. It is commonly found among the sufferers that have additional knee pains in weight bearing activities.

Treatment of plantar fasciitis

Medical Intervention: Consult your doctor for optimum pain relief: Tylenol (the counter pain killer like anti-inflammatory and non-steroidal) or Acetaminophen (NSAIDs)Hot and ice packs: This may be useful to reduce pain and help release the tension in the sole of the foot and calfPhysiotherapy intervention: The role of physic is to release the tightness of the lower limb muscles and the fascia and strengthen them via exercise therapy as well as offering massage, taping, acupuncture, electrotherapy and biomechanical correction.Footwear: Good and supportive footwear with medial arch support may also be very beneficial to the sufferer. A podiatrist review may also be advised depending on the severity of the condition
