Iwanttoshareacoupleofexcitingitemsinourparishlife.

First,attheMayvestrymeeting,thevestrydecidedunanimouslytogoforward

withacapitalcampaigntoraisemoneyforimportantexteriorstoneandwindowrepairs,restorationofourorganandupkeepforthecarillonandotherinstruments,airconditioning,preparingourbasementforfutureuse,andanassortmentofotherminorissues.WewillbeengagingMichaelDavisasourconsultant.Michaelwillbeworkingwithus,St.John’sinFranklinandSt.Mark’sinErieoncapitalcampaignsthisyear.Thisspring,MichaelwasinSharontospeakwithabout20familiesforafeasibilitystudy,whichfoundsignificantsupportforoureffort.Thecampaignislikelytokick-offthisfallaftersomeinitialorganizationaleffortsoverthesummer.Ifyouhavequestions,pleaseletmeknow.

Second,thevestryenteredapartnershipwithSt.PaulyShedstoputausedclothingdropoffshedinourparkinglot.St.PaulyisacompanyoutofRochester,NY,thatpartnerswithchurchesandothernon-profitstocollectabout80,000poundsofclothingaday.CurrentlyintheUS,about85%ofallclothingisthrownawayinsteadofdonated.ByworkingwithSt.PaulySheds,wecanhelpreversethattrendbyworkingwithanorganizationthatwillensureclothingissenttopeoplewhoneedit(andisnotmadeintorags)andwillgiveus4centsperpoundforallclothingcollected.Theyprovideandmaintaintheshed,doweeklypick-upsofclothing,helpwithsignageandadvertising,andallowustouseanyclothingdonatedforourownministries(rummagesales,ECS,etc.)should

somecare.Hiscaretotheworldcomesthroughourefforts.WehaveanopportunitytohelpsomefolkstransformintopowerfulChristiansandre-integrateintosociety.

At this point, we are looking for folks with the following gifts, skills, connections:

• Abletoassistwithcreatingausefulresume

• Instructonhowtoprepareandgotoajobinterview

• Folksabletodosomelocaltransportation ofoneortwopeople

• Havelocalbusinesscontactsorwillingtospeak withlocalemployers

• Mentorandbethat“someone”folkscancallandtalkthroughproblemswithinsetboundaries

• Mostimportantly,prayforthoseweareassisting

Theopportunitytodosomevaluableministryisknockingatourdooratalevelwecanmanageandbesuccessful.Weareformalizingtheprocessandlookingforfolkstojoinusinthisministry.Whileallarewelcome,wearespecificallylookingformenforthisministry.

Ifitseemslikethisrequestisabitvague,itisbydesign,becauseIwouldliketoexplainthedetailsinperson.Notthattheprojectisscaryinanyway,buttheexcitementaboutthisworkishardtoconveyinmerewords.Iwantyoutoseeitinmyfaceorhearitinmyvoice.

Third,attheendofJunewewillmoveour10:00amSundayworshipintoAllenHall.GiventheincreasingnumberofguestsatourSaturdaylunchesandthelogisticalissuesofreconfiguringthespaceeveryweek,thevestrydiscussedkeepingtheserviceinthesanctuary(whichsomepreferforotherreasons).Atthesametime,anumberofpeoplehaveindicatedthattheycannotattendchurchinthesummerwithoutairconditioningduetoserioushealthandrespiratoryissues,andthatnumberseemstobegrowing.Inordertoallowasmanypeopleaspossibletojoinusforworship,wewillworshipthissummerinAllenHall.The8:00amservicewillremaininthesanctuary.

Fourth,duetosummerrenovationsatWestHillSchool,theirsummerfeedingprogramwillbeheldinAllenHall. BeginningJune16andgoingMonday-FridayuntilAugust9,theschooldistrictwillofferfreelunchtoanychildrenandareducedcostlunchtoadultsfrom11:30-12:30. AnyoneinterestedinvolunteeringtoworkwiththeschooldistrictstaffonservingorworkingwithDianaonchildren’sprogrammingduringtheselunchesshouldcallthechurchoffice.Anothergreatopportunitytopartnerwithourcommunitytomeetpeople’sbasicneeds.

Additionally,joinusforourPentecostservicesonJune8,andourDiocesanPicnicatWaldameeronJune15.OnJune15,wewillhaveourregular8:00amservice,andthenencourageeveryonetojoinusinErieforan11:00amDiocesanServiceatWaldameer.Calltheoffice(724-347-4501)formoreinformation.

Our friends at First Presbyterian Church in Sharpsville, Central Christian Church and First Baptist also contribute to the pantry along with items from the Senior Center. Currently our pantry is stocked full.
