Overview and Target Audience As we celebrate the 37th annual perinatal conference, much progress has been made in the care of the high-risk pregnant woman and her fetus, sick newborns and their families. Still, we have more work to do. This conference will provide a forum for perinatal health care professionals that will enhance and broaden knowledge of current and future perinatal practice. Issues to be addressed include aspects related to antenatal, fetal, intrapartum, neonatal and follow-up care.
This conference is intended for nurses, physicians and other maternal/child health providers practicing in a variety of roles and settings throughout Colorado, Wyoming and the surrounding region.
ObjectivesUpon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
Evening Presentation (CME and CNE credit)
• Create a translational approach to the science behind the developmental origins of disease for perinatal providers.
Conference Presentations
• Examine the effects of marijuana on pregnancy, lactation and family function.
• Discuss Colorado vital statistics data collection, use and dissemination for the electronic birth certificate.
• Interpret current recommended approaches to care of the periviable fetus.
• Review evidence-based treatment options and care, transport considerations and outcomes of newborns diagnosed with neonatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.
• Identify fetal rhythm abnormalities that need further evaluation.
• Describe the diagnostic modalities that facilitate staging and influence plan of care development, including intervention, for Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS).
• Review the process of adding disorders to the recommended uniform newborn screening panel, disorders recently added to the panel and disorders that may be included in newborn screening in the coming years.
• Discuss what’s new and what’s changed in obstetrical care.
Conference HandoutsConference handouts will be emailed to registered participants by October 6, 2014. Those not registered by October 6 will receive handouts via email after the conference. Conference handouts will not be available onsite.
