Konklusyon

“Oh snap! UP student wins photography contest with plagiarized photo”

By ROEHL NIÑO BAUTISTA, GMA NewsSeptember 22, 2013 9:11pm

Mark Joseph Solis passed off Gregory John Smith's "Neptune, King of the Sea" as his own work and won a photo contest with it.

After topping the Chilean Embassy's local photo contest, an amateur snapshooter is under fire after a Brazil-based photographer claimed ownership of the photo that he had sent in.

University of the Philippines student Mark Joseph Solis' entry "The Mettle of the Filipino Spirit," about a young boy who "helps his father in farming seaweeds along a coastal community in Zamboanga province," is disputed by Gregory John Smith, a social entrepreneur with the global network Ashokaand founder of the Children At Risk Foundation in Brazil.

"The photo was actually taken by me in Brazil in 2006, whilst on Christmas holidays at the coast together with four brothers from the same poverty-stricken family in Brazil, who were supported by our program at the time," Smith told GMA News Online.

"The photo was taken by me on a beach in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, whilst the kids were having fun chucking seaweed at each other," he added.

Kennedy to Sotto: 'This is a clear case of

MANILA, Philippines - Long is the saga of Sottogate, yet allegations against Senator Tito Sotto continue. Now 4 US copyright holders have spoken out, including the president of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights: RFK’s daughter, Kerry Kennedy. All this began again the other day, when Sarah Pope, Janice Formichella, and Peter Engelman issued a joint statement alleging that Sotto had “infringed on our intellectual property rights and plagiarized.”Their protest was swiftly dismissed by Sotto and his staff, who, according to GMA News, “questioned its authenticity, pointing out that it did not even have an official letterhead.”This, after Sotto’s chief of staff, Hector Villacorta, reportedly said they would address the issue only after the aggrieved parties complained.Complain they have, in no uncertain terms. Yet when Formichella wrote about the issuein Ms. Magazine, Sotto churlishly said: “She is pathetic. She is just riding on to get famous.”When Engelman wrote a statement, he was ignored completely. And when Sotto was asked about his alleged plagiarism of Kennedy’s speech, our Senate Majority Leader replied: “The people who think this is plagiarism should think again. I did not copy it, I translated it. Do they know the spelling of ‘copy’ and ‘translate’? They have low IQ!”

Verses

Page 21: Pagmamay aring-intelektuwal

• “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.” Exodus 20:17

Page 22: Pagmamay aring-intelektuwal

• Exodus 20:15: "You shall not steal.”• Deuteronomy 19:14: "You shall not

remove your neighbor's landmark, which the men of old have set, in your inheritance which you will inherit in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.”

• Deuteronomy 27:17: “Cursed is the one who moves his neighbor's landmark.”

Page 23: Pagmamay aring-intelektuwal

• Proverbs 23:10-11: “Do not remove the ancient landmark, nor enter the fields of the fatherless; For their Redeemer is mighty; He will plead their cause against you.”

• Hosea 5:10: "The princes of Judah are like those who remove a landmark; I will pour out my wrath on them like water.”

Page 24: Pagmamay aring-intelektuwal

• Romans 13:1-7:• 1      Let every soul be subject to the

governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.2      Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.

Page 25: Pagmamay aring-intelektuwal

• 3      For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.4      For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

Page 26: Pagmamay aring-intelektuwal

• 5      Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake.6      For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing.7      Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

Page 27: Pagmamay aring-intelektuwal

• Ephesians 4:28 “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.”
