Question of the Week
Have I spent quality time with my Family this summer?
The Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará (www.servidoras.org or
www.ssvmmissions.org ), a missionary Institute of religious sisters, are happy to be
given the opportunity to speak at Saint James for the mission appeal this weekend,
August 11/12. From our beginnings in San Rafael, Argentina in 1988 we have grown
to over 1200 sisters missioning in almost 40 different countries throughout the world.
We strive to go where the presence of religious sisters is most needed. Although we
are an international community, we have been blessed with many vocations from the
United States a bit over 100 at present. This appeal allows us to inform the members
of your parish about our mission work in Egypt. As you may imagine, our missions in
places like Egypt are in great need of support. The sisters work in several houses,
providing education for children, teenagers, and young women. They also have a
home for girls with special needs. Since most of the girls come from poor families, the
sisters also take care of the families by giving them some assistance. As you may
know, Egypt is not economically stable at present. For this reason missionaries do not
receive much help from the local people who very often themselves lack even basic
necessities. Thank you, Father Derasmo, for giving us this opportunity to speak at
Saint James and share with you about our mission in Egypt. As we daily strive to help
those in need, we are most grateful to all of you for your prayers, contributions and
generosity, truly a grace from God and a consolation for our missionary
sisters. Please be assured of our prayers for all of you as well!

COMING TO SAINT JAMES
SEPTEMBER 17TH
THE MEN OF OUR PARISH WILL
Introduction: Why RISE?
The RISE 30 day challenge is for men who want to know and live more fully their unique masculine identity and vocation, in an age where both are ideologically and culturally emasculated.
The RISE Challenge seeks to open up the doors to these masculine identities, and to explore their meaning and mission. For each day of the week, men are given a brief inspirational video, a quote to ponder, and a daily challenge suited to their present stage in life; single, married with children at home, married with no children at home, or divorced/separated/widowed. The recommendation is that each of these pieces be viewed and reflected upon in the morning. The estimated time frame for this daily RISE structure is roughly 5-8 minutes in total each day, with the challenges being applied throughout the day.
MORE INFO TO COMING
Rise will be facilitated in Saint James by Deacon Chris

In this Gospel the love that
Jesus reveals through the
symbol of the cross
is: self-giving, sacrificial,
healing, forgiving, in
solidarity with the weak, confident in the power
of God.
During the hot summer months many
of the elderly, especially those who are sick,
are not able to find relief from the heat. Please
help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to bring
