Blessings Father Vogan on the 49th Anniversary of Your Ordination

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FAITHFUL SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF GOD.
I am grateful to Christ Jesus our Lord…because he judged me faithful and appointed me to his service…I Timothy 1:12
R L LIFESPAN!
"THANKS, DAD, FOR LIFE! HAPPY FATHER’S DAY"
Let us honor our husbands, fathers, grandfathers, uncles and special men in our lives on Father's Day. The following items will be available from RTLL for a donation after all the Masses Father's Day weekend: Pens with a stylus tip, chocolate bars, tape measures, and stands for phones/tablets will all be available for donations.
The candy bars will all be labelled with the phrase "Life is Sweet, Thanks for LIFE!"
and facts about human development with a cute baby picture.
Thanks,
Joanne
As we look at the flag of our country, let us always remember its true meaning, for a flag without meaning is only a piece of cloth. The red of our flag stands for valor and bravery like that of those who fought to protect our freedoms. White signifies purity and innocence, as that of our Founding Fathers’ intent to secure the rights of all. Blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice, as all are needed in any government to secure the blessings of God. And as our stars and stripes point to the stars of the heavens and the rays of the sun, let us never forget that our
country must depend upon God’s blessing and protection.

FAITH FORMATION NEWS
Faith Formation classes will resume next September. Look for registration forms to go home in August. The results of the survey indicated that families want to remain with our Wednesday evenings and keeping the session times for our faith formation classes the same too. Thank you to all who contributed. We will again be having Vacation Bible School this summer. It will be the week of July 16th “SonQuest Rainforest VBS”. We need adult volunteers to help with the games, music, all music is provided on a DVD, crafts and read the daily Bible story. No experience necessary! Only the desire to be with children! All supplies and direction are provided. Please contact the Faith Formation office if you are interested. Seventh and Eighth graders, VBS is a wonderful opportunity to begin your service hours required for Confirmation!
We will have packet pick-up for anyone who has pre-registered and/or would like to register at all Masses next week, June 16th-17th.

Greetings: For those of you whom I haven’t had the opportunity to introduce myself to yet, my name is Patrick Howard. I am the Young Adult & Campus Ministry Liaison for the Archdiocese of Detroit. If you would like to be connected to all the great things happening with young adult ministry in the Archdiocese, and to be able to share this with your young adults, there are a few ways to get and stay connected.
Every month, I send out an email with all the young adult events from the Archdiocese and the various Catholic young adult groups and ministries throughout southeast Michigan for the coming month. To sign up to receive the emails go to http://www.aod.org/ministries/young-adult-ministry/events-and-email-signup/ click “Email Signup” and fill out the form.
I hope this helps you to connect with what’s going on with young adult ministry throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit. Please sign up for the email and follow us on social media. If you have any questions, suggestions or information to share on young adult ministry, please feel free to reach out to me at the contact information below. Also, please share the information on how to get and stay connected with all the young adults in your life. We live in a time of challenge but also a time of great hope. Do not be discouraged. The Holy Spirit is doing powerful things in our Archdiocese, and He is working through each one of us. With all His power and wisdom, I look forward to us unleashing the Gospel together.
Sincerely yours in Christ, Patrick Howard

ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA Wednesday, June 13
"St. Anthony, St. Anthony, come around! Something's lost that must be found!" Did you
learn this rhyme in childhood? St. Anthony of Padua is more than the patron saint for lost items. By his life, he shows a special interest in lost souls. St. Anthony was born to noble parents, but he preferred a simple life of faith to the riches of his childhood. He joined the Franciscan order in 1220. He quickly became known for his eloquence in preaching. He had a way of reaching all sorts, from nobles to clergy to those who had fallen away from the Catholic faith. In addition to preaching, St. Anthony organized supplies for the poor and negotiated release for prisoners of war between Italian city-states. However you or your loved ones feel lost this week, pray for St. Anthony's intercession!

God our Father, you have called us to be witnesses to Jesus
and have commissioned us to lead all people to encounter him
Send your Holy spirit to enlighten our minds
so that your will may be clear to us and that we may accept it.
Dwell within our souls and make our hearts your own.
Transform us into a band of joyful missionary disciples
embracing the fruits of Synod 16 so as to share the good news
of Jesus Christ in southeast Michigan through joyful
evangelization and service.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle
in them the fire of your love. Amen.

A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. Is the kingdom of your soul divided? We are often confronted with choices that appear to be good but in essence are not. We struggle with choosing good over evil and right from wrong. Conflicts often exist within, and we walk through life with a divided heart. We realize what is needed to live with God but find ourselves doing the exact opposite. As we gather with our brothers and sisters and seek God's gift of Christ in the Eucharist, may we not only be united with one another in faith but united with God within. All conflicts and divisions can cease, and we can act with a focused, strong, and determined heart.
