Unassuming, down-to-earth- and always bending the rules of reality because he could. One of his most amazing quotes and my favorite: “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes…the ones who see things differently – they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things…they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see the genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Well done, pioneer. R.I.P. Steve Jobs 1955-2011. As the Occupy Wall Street move- ment continues to spread across the globe (including local rallies around the Market House in Fayetteville), notable entertainers are showing up among its supporters in increasing numbers. In re- cent weeks Russell Simmons, Talib Kweli, Kanye West, David Banner, Lupe Fiasco , Bun B, Raheem DeVaughn and Dr. Cornel West among others, have all made appearances at various rallies across the country. Looks like the so-called “Tea Party” is not the only “revolutionaries” in this country. Viva la OWS!! So, is the Bey preggers or not?! Ru- mors continue to circulate (including by controversial talk-show host Wendy Williams ) that the Beyonce Jay-Z pregnancy might be a faked one for pub- licity reasons. Fueling the flames is the latest story regarding Bey’s dad Mathew Knowles’ accusation of offering to buy a baby for Beyonce and Jay-Z to raise as their own. The woman Mathew re- portedly made this offer to is Alexsandra Wright, the woman he knocked up while married to Beyonce and Solange’s mom Tina. Alexsandra reportedly has a tape of Mathew making this offer. Wow! Definitely waiting to see how this develops…and paying attention to see if Bey is buying more pillows than usual. Hmmm…….moving on. Looks like another Destiny’s Child member has found love. And we didn’t see this coming at all! F.A.M.E. tour mates Chris Brown and Kelly Rowland have started dating. Sources say Kelly initially ignored Chris’ invites to dinner, but she eventually became receptive to his advances and now they are reportedly seeing each other. Well, good for them! I think they make a cute couple. More bad news for fallen-from-grace Bishop Eddie Long. A lawsuit was filed against the scandalous preacher and head of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA for allegedly scheming church folk out of millions of dollars, via a business Long endorsed. According to the Atlantic Journal-Constitution, the alle- gations stem from a three-day investment seminar Long held at the church in October 2009, at which church members were encouraged to invest in a company named City Capital Corporation, according to the suit. Have the members seen any money back from their in- vestment? Well, what do YOU think? Moving on……. Finally, your very own self-proclaimed poet-laureate and edutainer, Val Jones, had a great first debut of my one-woman per- formance - Menopausal Musings Of A Military Brat. And I’m do- ing it again before I take my performance on the road! So come see it again, perhaps for the 1 st time and see the “Attitude Child” like you never have before. Real, hilarious, and will definitely make you think, the encore presentation of Menopausal Musings Of A Mili- tary Brat takes place Saturday November 12 at the Community Per- forming Arts Center on Wilson Avenue (on the corner of Raeford and Bunce Roads) in Fayetteville. Special performance by the phe- nomenal Sir Ben Marx. Tickets only $7 in advance, $10 at the door and you can text ‘cpacartz’ to 55469 for more info.
