Festival entertainment The Alexandria Community Band The Alexandria Community Band opens the entertainment line-up Friday evening at 6 p.m. AMHS choirs Alexandria-Monroe High School choirs will perform in the Entertainment Building on Saturday at 1 p.m. The 2014 SmallTown U.S.A. Festival Committee will honor the heritage of Alexandria being named SmallTown U.S.A. by the United States Department of Defense during W.W.II by hosting a ‘Servicemen’s Ball’ on Friday, Sept. 12 from 7 to 11 p.m. in the 4-H b uilding during the 2014 festival. Local band, Quincy’s Brass will entertain the crowd with its versatile play list covering songs from the 1940s to cur- rent music. The band features a three piece horn section, versatile vocalists, four-part har- monies, a rock-solid rhythm section, and a high energy stage presence. Quincy’s Brass’ song list includes top 40 danceable cover tunes in the genres of disco, rock, classic rock, pop, country, Big Band and Jazz allowing the band to entertain audiences of any age. Band members include, Jeff Culp on drums, Scott Jones on guitar, Brad Laub on saxophone and vocals, Jeff McDaniel on keyboard and vocals, Jeff Poe on trum- pet and vocals, and Joe Wilson on trumpet. The four hour performance will include approximately 50 songs. The band invites dancers of all types, be it modern or a good old-fashion waltz, to join them to celebrate during the festival. As Madison County’s most versatile band, Quincy’s Brass is well versed at play- ing to its crowd and will sure- ly provide entertainment for everyone. Dinner will be served by Fazolis from 7 to 9 p.m. and is included in the ticket price. Veterans and servicemen/ women are encouraged to wear their uniforms, and as the committee throws the theme back to the WWII era, guests are invited to dress in the style of the era. Tickets for the event are available in advance at the Alexandria-Monroe Chamber of Commerce office, the Alexandria Eagles #1771, the Alexandria VFW #1552, DeVoe Chevrolet, and Shear Dimensions in Alexandria. They are also available at the Elwood Publishing Company offices in Elwood.
