Ryan is now fishing and playing with Paw-Paw. Left to mourn his passing are his Clifton R. New_ Clifton R. New, 74, of Columbus, passed away Monday, August 14, 2000 at Monument Hill Nursing Home in La Grange. He was born June 21, 1926 in Speaks to Floyd and Maggie Brown New. Clifton and Leona Richter were married on May 27, 1951. He was a retired welder with Pioneer/Lone Star mother, Ann Hough; three brothers, Scott Andrew Gilmore, Jeffrey Tho- mas and Alexander Reed Hough; grandmother, Marie Gilmore; grand- father, Bill Sandel; and great-grand- mother, Jackie Walker of Garwood; uncle, Jeffrey Lee Gilmore; great aunts, Liz Haill and Sandy Jones; and July 7,1997 - August 17, 2000 great uncle, Preston Walker. Moriah Baptist Church in Al- ley ton, attended her first Gospel Music Workshop of America Con- vention, the oldest and largest gospel music organization in the world, Aug. 13-19 in New Orleans, Louisiana. While there, she was chosen to lead one of the songs at the live record- ing of the "GMWA Women of Wor- ship" CD which is a great honor. She will also have the opportunity to travel to Nashville, Tennessee to finish the recording. She has already opened up gospel concerts for such great artists as The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Dorothy Nor- wood and Chester "DT" Baldwin. Let's just encourage one of Eagle Lake's own who is moving forward doing the Lord's will in her song ministry that will reach to all the cor- ners of the world. Catholic Church study week set for Jan. 2001 Lay and ordained ministers of the Roman Catholic Diocesan Church of Victoria are hearing much lately on the Christian call to evangelize and work in relationship with each other's ministries. Many parish leaders are being trained to implement the Dis- ciples in Mission process next spring. This lectionary based catechesis will prepare us to be a more evangelizing church. Charlene O'Connell, the Director of Religious Education and Catholic Adult Formation for the Church of Austin, recently gave the keynote address at the Aug. 8 meeting of the Organization of Catechetical Leader- ship in Victoria. In her address she emphasized the intimate relationship between catechesis and evangeliza- tion as stated in the General Directory for Catechesis (GDC). This will not be all. Continuing on in this direction, at the upcoming Victoria Conference for Catechesis and Ministry (VCCM) on Sept. 30, Sr. Linda Gaupin, CDP, Ph. D, will de- liver the Keynote Address titled, "The Harmonious Work of the Sower: Lit- urgy, Catechesis and Evangeliza- tion." In Jan. of 1999 Sr. Linda gave a major presentation at the 37th Annual Southwest Liturgical Conference Study Week in Lubbock on this same topic. "This was a dynamic and vision- ary presentation," comments Eddie Winkler, pastor of the Parish of the Nativity, Eagle Lake and Chair of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission. "Her remarks flowed from the newly revised GDC with its unitive vision of ministry where liturgy and catechesis are wedded together so that the "par- ticular Church may grow harmoni- ously and its evangelizing activity 24&48 may spring from authentic sources" [GDC 72]. Sr. Linda was specifically chosen by the local VCCM Committee to present this vision of ministry for us, as it puts away the compartmentaliz- ing of ministries. That is, where min- isters think they have only one job to do and that ministries are not related to each other. She will therefore encour- age ministers of catechesis and evan- gelization to attend the upcoming SWLC Study Week, Jan. 17-20,2001 hosted by the Church of Victoria in Port Lavaca: Liturgy: Celebrating God's Action, We Live - We Move - We Have Our Being. This Study Week will break open the liturgical rituals of gesture, pos- ture, and movement and explore how these movements of our body contain a richness of meaning. There will be a music concert by Jaime Cortez in the Sanctuary of Holy Family Parish, Victoria at 7:30 p.m. Friday night, Sept. 29, before the VCCM. "This concert will also en- courage ministers of catechesis and evangelization to understand their relationship with the liturgical life of the Church," states Sr. Digna Vela, di- rector of the Office of Catechetical Ministry. The Roman Catholic Diocesan Church of Victoria is comprised of those parishes in Calhoun, Colorado, Dewitt, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca, Ma- tagorda, Victoria, and Wharton Cou- nties, and the portion of Fayette Cou- nty south and west of the Colorado River. Congratulations to Paula Richardson Paula Richardson, a resident of

Eagle Lake, and the Minister of Music at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Al- ley ton, attended her first Gospel Music Workshop of America Con- vention, the oldest and largest gospel music organization in the world, Aug. 13-19 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

While there, she was chosen to lead one of the songs at the live record- ing of the "GMWA Women of Wor- ship" CD which is a great honor. She will also have the opportunity to travel to Nashville, Tennessee to finish the recording.

She has already opened up gospel

concerts for such great artists as The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Dorothy Nor- wood and Chester "DT" Baldwin.

Let's just encourage one of Eagle Lake's own who is moving forward doing the Lord's will in her song ministry that will reach to all the cor- ners of the world.

Catholic Church study week set for Jan. 2001 Lay and ordained ministers of the

Roman Catholic Diocesan Church of Victoria are hearing much lately on the Christian call to evangelize and work in relationship with each other's ministries. Many parish leaders are being trained to implement the Dis- ciples in Mission process next spring. This lectionary based catechesis will prepare us to be a more evangelizing church.

Charlene O'Connell, the Director of Religious Education and Catholic Adult Formation for the Church of Austin, recently gave the keynote address at the Aug. 8 meeting of the Organization of Catechetical Leader- ship in Victoria. In her address she emphasized the intimate relationship between catechesis and evangeliza- tion as stated in the General Directory for Catechesis (GDC).

This will not be all. Continuing on in this direction, at the upcoming Victoria Conference for Catechesis and Ministry (VCCM) on Sept. 30, Sr. Linda Gaupin, CDP, Ph. D, will de- liver the Keynote Address titled, "The Harmonious Work of the Sower: Lit- urgy, Catechesis and Evangeliza- tion." In Jan. of 1999 Sr. Linda gave a major presentation at the 37th Annual Southwest Liturgical Conference Study Week in Lubbock on this same topic.

"This was a dynamic and vision- ary presentation," comments Eddie Winkler, pastor of the Parish of the Nativity, Eagle Lake and Chair of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission. "Her remarks flowed from the newly revised GDC with its unitive vision of ministry where liturgy and catechesis are wedded together so that the "par- ticular Church may grow harmoni- ously and its evangelizing activity

may spring from authentic sources" [GDC 72].

Sr. Linda was specifically chosen by the local VCCM Committee to present this vision of ministry for us, as it puts away the compartmentaliz- ing of ministries. That is, where min- isters think they have only one job to do and that ministries are not related to each other. She will therefore encour- age ministers of catechesis and evan- gelization to attend the upcoming SWLC Study Week, Jan. 17-20,2001 hosted by the Church of Victoria in Port Lavaca: Liturgy: Celebrating God's Action, We Live - We Move - We Have Our Being.

This Study Week will break open the liturgical rituals of gesture, pos- ture, and movement and explore how these movements of our body contain a richness of meaning.

There will be a music concert by

Jaime Cortez in the Sanctuary of Holy Family Parish, Victoria at 7:30 p.m. Friday night, Sept. 29, before the VCCM. "This concert will also en- courage ministers of catechesis and evangelization to understand their relationship with the liturgical life of the Church," states Sr. Digna Vela, di- rector of the Office of Catechetical Ministry.

The Roman Catholic Diocesan Church of Victoria is comprised of those parishes in Calhoun, Colorado, Dewitt, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca, Ma- tagorda, Victoria, and Wharton Cou- nties, and the portion of Fayette Cou- nty south and west of the Colorado River.

Non-Catholic ministers or inter- ested persons are welcomed at both upcoming events.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Russell Seely III of Orlando, Florida, are pleased to announce the birth of their fourth child, a daughter, bom at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 8,2000.

Kirby Ann weighed seven pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 20 inches at birth.
