Argos is a global satellite-based location and data collection system dedicated to studying and protecting our planet's environment.

The Argos system

It allows any mobile object equipped with a compatible transmitter: To be located across the world, To send data from measurement sensors connected to this transmitter.

Argos messages and observation data can be automatically

sent to the user by : Emails, FTP, SMS

Different sending strategies available :

• Data sent at each new dataset

• Data sent on a periodic mode (i.e. each hours)

Different formats available: CSV, TXT, …

• Variables such as Air Pressure, Air Temperature, SST, Wind are particularly useful.

• This International co-operation is helping weather centers to produce better forecasts and contributing in the long term to global climate studies.

• CLS is providing GTS processing and distribution for all met. & ocean platforms, including main international programs
