Before visiting the cake shops at Woodside Square Mall, we shared what we know
about cake shops and what we would like to learn.
What do you know about cake shops?
They put toys on the cake (Pranavan)

Walking Field Trip
We were supposed to go on a walking field trip on Wednesday, December 16, but it
was rainy and some students were not dressed appropriately for the weather.
On Thursday, December 17, we were lucky because it was a sunny and warm day.
We went to look at two different cake shops.

We visited the Toronto Public Library to look at books about cakes.

After walking to the mall to look at the cake shop, we talked about what we learned
and shared some question.
What did you learn about cakes and cake shops?
I learned there are wedding cakes. (Rethuran)
I learned that there is frosting in it. (Carol)

What do we need to make our Drama Centre into a cake shop?
Boxes, plastic, paper, glue to make pretend cake, cupcakes, and muffins.
It is now 2016 and we are now starting to add things that we find in a cake shop to our
Drama Centre.
Saleh made a birthday cake using foam blocks
Pranavan made some cupcakes using egg cartons and
construction paper
Carol made a strawberry cake using plasticine.

We also talked about the different kinds of Canadian coins by naming each of them and
talking about what things we see on them.
