Updating the software: If upgrading from a version prior to 8.000:

o You will need to manually download and install the latest version of the software from http://support.p3proswing.com/support/solutions/articles/191349-all-in-one-software

If version 8.000 or higher: o Your version of the software is setup for automatic updates. You should be

prompted when you start the software to update (provided you are connected to the internet)

o You can also find the update button in the menu system: From the startup menu: Options->Updates

o You do still have the option to manually install from the link above as well, but the auto-update feature should be MUCH faster

Auto-Updates:

If you have an internet connection on your computer at the time you start the software, it will check to see if you are running the latest version of the software automatically. If there is a new software update, you will be prompted with the following:

When clicking yes, the download will begin and you will see the download progress as follows:

Upon completion of the download, you will be prompted as to whether or not you wish to install the download at this time. If not, it will be stored locally and the next time you start the software you will be prompted with the ‘New Update Available’ windows. Instead of downloading, it will verify the version of your stored update and use the stored update if it is the current new version.

Sweet spot distance penalties are defined based on how far away the ball is from the sweet spot of the club face. These penalties are disabled by default and may be enabled in the OPTIONS dialog. When enabled, the area within the sweet spot region incurs no penalty. This is the area illustrated by the green box below. The red areas incur some penalty, ranging from none next to the green to full penalty next to the whiff zone. In the whiff zone, the swing is ignored and a whiff message is displayed.

The sweet spot penalties are defined as follows:

Within 80% 0%

Outside 80% and within 90%

0% to 10%

Outside 90% 10% to 15%

The sweet spot region is defined differently per

club face. Here are the definitions that are implemented. Note that for PUTTERS, the whiff information is used, but the penalty is not incurred. Also notice that the toe and heel distance from the sweet spot is different for the irons to account for the hosel. A bad hit on the hosel is considered a whiff.

o Assume Sensor Impact – if you are a golfer who always

impacts the ground at the ball, check the appropriate boxes to improve the results of the Angle of Attack reading used in ball flight. There is a separate check box for Woods, Irons & Hybrids.

o Slow Swing Mode Distance (Ft) – this controls how far away from the cup you are when the slow swing mode is activated. The default setting is 40 feet. We do not recommend you change this setting unless you are finding that your slow swings are not recording. Move this too low may cause swings to not record as your swing will be too slow and red slow swing indicator (and emitters) will not be on.

Select the unit of measure (Imperial or Metric) Flyovers – select whether you would like flyovers or not. This will

enable/disable both course flyovers and hole flyovers. If you disable this feature the <F> shortcut key will not work either.

Cover Type – Select the type of cover on your sensor unit:

Rubber Cover

Grass Cover (both Turf & Grass should have this selected) Spin Type Info – select how you would like the spin displayed during play:

Back Spin/Sidespin – this will break the spin values out into 2 different readings.

RPM/Spin Angle – this will display a single spin value and the axis that the spin is at.

Shot Analysis – choose how long the shot analysis displays (when enabled)

Club Selection – toggle whether or not the players can change Club Selection

Green Grid: (when does the contour map of the Green/Terrain Grid display)

Always On - (is always on and cannot be turned off using "G" or the menu item)

Always Off - (is off by default but can still be turned on using "G" or the menu item)

On Green – (automatically turns the green grid on when near the green or if you press "G" or the menu item)

Ball Friction Scalar – this affects how much roll the ball will have when impacting the ground. We have found the best setting is 2.0, but you are free to tweak this for the most realistic golf. (Note: the higher the number on the scalar, the slower the ball will roll) NOTE: This is not available once the game has started.

Greens Roll Friction Scalar: This will allow you to customize the speed of ball rolling on the greens. The default value is 5.00. Raising this value will result in less ball roll. Reducing this value will result in more ball roll.

Ball Trail Size – here you can adjust the width of the ball trails. Rough Penalty – you can change the penalty imparted for being in the

rough. This will reduce your ball speed and thus reduce your distance. Bunker Penalty (Fairway & Green Side) - you can change the penalty

imparted for being in the sand bunker. This will reduce your ball speed and thus reduce your distance.

Ball Center Offset – this setting appears the position of the ball on the screen. Many folks will offset this so the ball is directly in front of the sensor. This will offset for each side based on the handedness of the golfer.

Remap Controls – This will allow you to change the HotKeys for various

functions within the software. With this window, you will have the ability to print out your personalized HotKey Map. Note that this is for the entire system and not by player.

To change the HotKey, simply click on the box. A popup will appear with instructions on how to change the key layout.

Video Camera Settings - here you can select the different video

cameras you would like to use. This includes 2 possible Video Capture Cameras (used for videos of the golfer swinging) or the Launch Angle Camera. Each box populates with the available video cameras from your computer. The camera MUST be recognized as an Imaging Device on your system for it to work here (usually web cameras).

Save video to disk – By clicking this window, your video capture videos will be stored with your Practice Session data. Note that this causes a delay in swing processing so the video can be stored.

Show Launch Angle Window – check this box to display the Launch Angle Window. If this is off, Launch Angle will not be recorded by the system.

Use Launch Angle in Computation – check this box to use the Launch Angle calculated by the system in the ball flight computation.

Ball Spin License – from here you can activate and de-activate your Ball Spin License. There is also a button to open the web portal to purchase a Ball Spin License if you do not already own one. If you are moving to a new computer – you MUST deactivate your license from the first computer before you can activate it on the new computer. It will display your License ID # when there is an active license.

Scan for Sensor – The system is designed to find your sensor unit(s) automatically. You should see a listing of how many golf swing analyzers (sensors) are connected under this button. If that number is incorrect, you can attempt to scan your computer again by using the ‘Scan for Sensors’ button.

Additional logging output for troubleshooting – If you are having issues with your software, you should check this box when you open the software. This will increase the amount of information stored in your application logs. Each time you start the software, this is automatically turned off (to save Hard drive space).

Reset Defaults will set all Game Options back to the default settings from when you first installed the game.

o Screen Settings: This will affect the size of your game screen on your monitor/screen/TV. To properly have it fill all screens, you should not set this higher than any resolution available on a device. For example, if the maximum

resolution on your projector is 1024x768 – then you should not exceed that in the Screen Resolution window.

Set Screen Resolution

The bottom item in the list should be selected. You should select ‘All’ Aspect ratios before making your screen resolution choice as your options may change when switching to ‘All’.

Screen – you can choose between Windows & Full Screen mode. By default ‘Windowed’ is chosen as we’ve seen some issues in Full Screen Mode.

Set Aspect Ratio Set VSYNC on/off (Leave on unless using a CRT monitor) Select Video Display Adapter Set Anti-Aliasing NOTE: To make the monitor take up your entire screen (on a single monitor system), Set Aspect Ratio to ‘All’, then selected the last resolution displayed in the ‘Screen Resolutions’ box. Then click OK.

Saving Practice Sessions (Practice Mode Only): When in Practice Mode, you will have the ability to save/load sessions. When you save your session it will create a file with the extension .SES in your Documents/P3 ProGolf/Saved Practice Session folder. Within that folder, you will find a subfolder named the same as the .SES file. This subfolder will contain:

o CSV file with all shot data. (Comma Separated Values). These files open in almost all spreadsheet application software (such as Excel, Lotus, etc.)

o HTML file with all the shot data. This type of file with open in any web browser regardless of whether you are connected to the internet or not.

o Video files: If you have video capture enabled, all video files will be exported to this folder as well.

This allows you to review your prior sessions so you can see improvement. It also allows golf professionals the ability to provide golfers with their data in a manner that can be viewed without the ProGolf™ software. The videos should be playable in any standard media player.

Video Capture: The ProGolf™ software has the capability to capture video during your swing so you can see your body mechanics in relationship to your result. The video capture feature can handle 2 webcams. General use is for 1 camera pointed directly at the golfer (‘head on’) and the second camera to be placed ‘down the line’ (so pointed behind the sensor unit toward the ball flight). You can find the settings for Video Capture located in the ‘Game Options’ section of the software.

Once you click the Video Camera Settings, you will be presented with a screen to set your video capture devices.

Launch Angle: The launch angle feature requires a web camera, light source and precise positioning of the camera. Appropriate lighting and environmental conditions will determine whether or not the launch angle product will accurately provide information. Below is an image of an appropriately set up camera.

Note that these dimensions should be followed exactly as they are critical to the appropriate calculations used in determining Launch Angle. The flashlight can moved to best keep the ball illuminated during flight. We have even found that directly behind the ball path can improve performance. The objective is to the light the ball in flight (not necessarily while it is on the tee). You must select the Launch Angle camera in the Game Options to use it. You should also display the Launch Angle Window. From the Launch Angle window you need to align the red lines so they are centered on the ball with the vertical line down the center of the ball/tee. If you’d like to use the launch angle, from the camera, in ball flight calculations – you should select that check box as well. The images you should get from the launch angle camera are as follows:

Page 43: P3ProSwing ProGolf Manual Manual.pdf · game will be listed as username_date_time_type of match. lick on your game and then the Join Game button. Clicking the Create Game button will

Image #1 – Pre Shot Image #2 – Post Shot Image #1 above will show what the window should look like prior to your shot. It is important that the red lines are centered on the ball (top to bottom). The vertical line should be aligned with the center of the ball and/or tee. Image #2 above will show the display after you have taken a swing. You’ll note the Launch Angle is displayed above the window. You’ll also note the red lines are now shown at the angle of ball launch. The green fill is the ‘streak of the ball’. The more green you have in these red lines, the more accurate the information will be as that indicates how much of the ball was recorded. If you only see green around your sneakers – it is possible the ball was not detected. Check your lighting and adjust according. The longer the ball stays illuminated the better the streak becomes. You can also make adjustments to the white light, exposure and gain settings in the camera to help this. The less bright colors you have in your background, the better the performance will be. Also beware of how much you zoom in the camera as it may impact faster swings.

Miniature Golf: With the release of Version 7, Miniature Golf is now available. These courses will be easily identified by the ‘Crazy’ or ‘Mini’ abbreviation on the course names. When you select one of these courses for Practice or Play, only the Putter will be available. There will be a few things to note about miniature golf that are somewhat different than regular courses. The starting aiming position is a bit different due to the nature of the short courses and the course development software. Because you are in a short hole, the waypoints are closer and thus you may find that you are not aimed perfectly for each shot so please observe where you are aimed at and change it if it is not correct. You will be aimed in the normal shape of the course, but if you are close to corners, the software may not account for that. Once you are close to the hole, you should be aimed directly at it though. With Miniature Golf, there is always the ability to leave the current hole. The software will prompt you if you leave the course and land off a green surface. However, if you leave the current hole and land on the green surface of another hole, it will not prompt you. So please be aware of this as you are playing. You will find 3 buttons to fix these situations:

If you press this button after leaving the green (but before hitting again), you will receive a 1 stroke penalty and can re-hit from the prior spot.

If you have hit while off the current green, this button will give you the ability to restart the hole, but with a 1 stroke penalty.

You also have the ability to skip the hole, but it will record your score as a 9 for the hole.

Of course, you do have the ability to set Mulligans on by using the ‘Customize’ functionality. You will find the Miniature Golf courses have a variety of difficulty levels, so you’ll want to try them all out to see how each course is. The ‘Crazy’ versions of the courses are the most ‘kid friendly’. And we hope you will enjoy hours of family fun with this new feature.

Ball Spin Display: P3 ProGolf™ has seen a total overhaul of the ball flight physics to have a much more realistic result. With this, P3™ has created the calculation of the ball spin based on the measured club data. When you install the P3 ProGolf™ software for the first time, you are issued a 2 day trial license to the Ball Spin Data. This license will display the spin values at the bottom of your screen for each shot taken. After the 2 days have finished, this image will display values of 0.

If you wish to continue receiving this valuable information, you can purchase a license by clicking here or clicking the link within the software. You should note that the spin data is used to determine ball flight regardless of whether you have a license to display the data or not.

To activate your license:

1. Open the software

2. Click on Options

3. Click on Ball Spin License

4. Enter the Order ID into the box

that pops up (as viewed below)

5. Click the 'Activate Now' button

Scoring Systems

Stroke Play:

This is the traditional scoring method where total number of shots are counted for each individual golfer and then compared to the course’s given nominal score value (par). In stroke play, the lowest score wins.

Match Play:

This scoring system compares you to another golfer and instead of individual scores being posted, it counts the number of holes won. Your overall total scores do not matter, only number of holes won. As you win a hole the score will change to reflect how many holes you are beating your opponent by (ex: 1up, 2up, etc.) or losing by (1down, 2down, etc.). It will only play the number of holes needed to define a winner. Therefore if you are 6up with 6 holes to play it will list your score as 6up-dormie which means that even if you lose all of the remaining holes you will still tie your opponent. If in dormie, a hole ends in a tie or is won by the leader then the match will be over.

Stableford:

This assigns a point system to your score and is different in that the highest score is best. As you get certain results on holes it assigns points to those results. Your total score will show as a point value rather than a stroke value or comparison to a course’s par. The points awarded are:

4-under on a hole 6 points

Double Eagle 5 points

Eagle 4 points

Birdie 3 points

Par 2 points

Bogey 1 point

Double bogey or greater 0 points

Modified Stableford:

This assigns a point system to your score and is different in that the highest score is best. As you get certain results on holes it assigns points to those results. Your total score will show as a point value rather than a stroke value or comparison to a course’s par. It is different from normal Stableford in that the point values are different. It also penalizes you for poor holes. The points awarded are:

Double Eagle 8 points

Eagle 5 points

Birdie 2 points

Par 0 points

Bogey -1 points

Double bogey or worse -3 points

If you happen to skip a hole in the ProGolf™ software it will give you -3 points for the hole(s) skipped.

Skins:

In the ProGolf™ Skins game it will assign a “skin” to a hole and the players will compete to win the skin. There is no money value assigned to the hole, rather the players are just playing for the “skin”. When a player wins the hole then they win the skin. If the hole is tied then the skin carries over making the next hole worth 2 skins. If a player wins that hole then they are rewarded with both skins (2). Total number of skins won is recorded and the player with the most skins is the overall winner.

Skins values are now set during game setup so the user has the option to create a unique value for each hole.

About the Scorecard & Editing the Score: Although P3™ has created one of the best putting simulations; there are still folks who do not putt within the software. Many businesses and individuals have set up putting courses at their simulator and finish their putting in that manner. Because of this, we’ve setup the software so you can manually edit your scorecard. To do so, you simply open the scorecard. Then click on the score of the hole which you would like to edit. A popup will open to allow you to change the score (see image #1 below). Note that the hole must be finished within the software before you can edit the score (whether by sinking a putt or a Gimme being used). You can tell that the score has been edited as the text will be red (instead of white or black). The background colorization will still be used regardless of whether the score has been edited or not. A Hole-in-One will be a bit difficult to read as the red text on red background is difficult on the eyes. Background Colorization Breakdown: Hole in One = Red Albatross = Yellow Eagle = Green Birdie = Cyan Par = White Bogey = Royal Blue Double Bogey = Purple Above Double Bogey = Black Image #1 – Edit Score Popup:

Customizing your Clubs: The software provides the ability to change each club’s characteristics to allow you to obtain the most accurate replication of your golf swing. For each club you have the following options:

Max Distance - this is only used for Auto-Club Selection. So input the maximum you hit each club so your club selection works appropriately for you. I recommend you hit a bunch with each club at the Driving Range within the software to gather this info.

Smash Factor - this is your club head speed to ball speed factor. For instance, if you hit your driver at 100 club head speed and you have the Smash Factor set at 1.44, then your ball speed will be 144 mph. The higher the Smash Factor, the more ball speed generated and thus more distance.

Club Mass - this is the weight of your club head. This is only available with 'Calculate Smash Factor' is checked. This, combined with loft angle, is used to calculate the Smash Factor.

Loft Angle (degrees) - this is the loft on your club. Generally speaking, a higher loft will result in a higher launch angle and lesser distance. This is used if you have 'Calculate Smash Factor' checked.

Launch Angle (degrees) - If you are not using a Launch Angle camera, this is the angle at which the ball is launched and used in ball flight calculation. The higher the launch angle, the higher the ball will go and usually results in a lower carry distance.

Punch Angle (degrees) - If you are not using a Launch Angle camera, this is the angle at which the ball is launched and used in ball flight calculation if you set the shot type to ‘Punch’. The higher the launch angle, the higher the ball will go and usually results in a lower carry distance.

Flop Angle (degrees) - If you are not using a Launch Angle camera, this is the angle at which the ball is launched and used in ball flight calculation if you set the shot type to ‘Flop’. The higher the launch angle, the higher the ball will go and usually results in a lower carry distance.

Max Club Head Speed (MPH) - This setting is used to keep the software physics within reason should it receive erroneous data.

Max Spin (RPM) - This setting is used to keep the software physics within reason should it receive erroneous data.

Tee Heights – the tee height settings are used to determine the location of the ball when in tee boxes. If you are not on a tee peg, the Grass Height setting is used. These settings will only impact your ball flight if you have Sweet Spot Penalties enabled. The tee heights are measured from the top of the sensor unit to the top of the tee.

Set as xxx Defaults – pressing this button will force the selected height to be used for all of the club type (xxx) indicated.

Grass Height – This should always be zero if you are hitting directly off the sensor unit for ‘non-tee’ shots.

NOTE: Be sure you have your correct cover type selected in Game Options. Set as xxx Defaults – pressing this button will force the selected height to be used for all of the club type (xxx) indicated.

Calculate Smash Factor - If checked, this will calculate your Smash Factor based on club mass and loft angle. Note that the Smash Factor slider will disappear and be replaced with a club mass slider when this box is checked.

Additional Notes:

Increasing your Smash Factor will cause an increase in ball speed which will result in longer distances, but you may find the amount of bounce & roll will also increase. Thus, you may need to adjust your Launch Angle to compensate for this.

Max Club Head Speed & Max Spin are combined items that are used to keep from unrealistic spin calculations. Unless your club head speed is exceeding this setting, you will see no effect by these settings.

Once you have your profile set the way you’d like, you can use the ‘Copy Player’ button to make additional players with these club settings.
