Aim of SLSAllows all students to have equal and open access to quality curriculum-aligned resources. ◦ Resources available to all students for major subjects from

primary, to pre-university level through the MOE Resource Library in SLS.

It enables our students to take greater ownership of their learning and work collaboratively. ◦ encourages learners to be self-directed and collaborative, and

allows them to personalise their learning according to their needs and abilities

How can students and teachers use the resources and tools in SLS?• All students can access the resources in SLS on their own using

different types of devices(e.g. laptop, tablet).

• Students can easily browse and search for relevant learning resources in the SLS on their own.

• Students can make use of the built-in search function to explore resources in the MOE Library. They can choose Subjects to “follow” and these will be consolidated and displayed on their MOE Library page. They can learn or revise concepts and skills at their own pace, anytime and anywhere. Immediate feedback for auto-graded quizzes allows students to monitor their own understanding.

How can students and teachers use the resources and tools in SLS? Teachers can assign students the specific learning

packages and quizzes from the MOE Library. Considering the learning needs of their students, teachers can further customise or adapt the lesson packages from the MOE Library, before assigning to students.

Reports generated can be used by teachers to check for students’ understanding and give appropriate intervention, e.g. recommend resources to address learning gaps.

Technical requirements for devices to access the SLS Computers and tablets with the latest browsers (e.g. Chrome,

Firefox and Safari) should be able to access the SLS. The resources are optimised for use by tablets as far as possible.

However, a small number of resources may not work on tablets due to missing plugins.

Currently, SLS is not optimised to display on mobile phones even though users can access the system and resources.

What can teachers and students do if they forget their passwords?Method How to reset password?

• Every student will create answers to security questions during account activation.• These questions will be asked randomly when students choose to reset their

password via this method on the login page.

• Students have the option to enter an email address for password reset.• A password reset email will be sent to this email when students choose to reset

their password via this method on the login page.

Others• Request for password reset via SLS Helpdesk, SLS School Administrators or

Subject Teachers.

Note: If the accounts are locked, teachers and students can approach the SLS Helpdesk orSLS School Administrators to unlock their accounts and trigger a new password reset email.

Students will be locked up after 6 repeated failures of access

Can parents access SLS? The online learning space is designed to support students

learning and facilitate student-student and student-teacher interaction.

Hence, only students and teachers are given user accounts.

During the FIRST login, you will be prompted to change your password (refer to Fig. 1b). You will need to key in your new password twice. Please note that the password must contain alphanumeric characters and is case-sensitive. It should:

be 8 characters or longer;

contain at least 1 letter and 1 number; and

be changed every 90 days (you will be directed to the change password page automatically)

After you have changed your password, you will be

prompted with an option to enter your email address in the

“Password Reset Email Address” field. A verification email will be sent to this email address.

The next step would be to set up the Security Questions. You will need to answer these Questions to verify that you are the legitimate account holder, when you need to perform a password reset via self-help or by calling Helpdesk.
