Thank You! Thank you to all for a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day Celebration! Thank you to all who came out to enjoy a beautiful day filled with fellowship and fun in celebration of our parish. To all of our amazing volunteers, we couldn’t have done it without you! We had an army of volunteers who set up, cleaned up, cooked, served, worked booths, donated items, assembled baskets, sold tickets and ran all over town picking up things. We have been deeply touched by the generosity of so many in the planning and running of this great event. We have had a great time!

A special thank you to Sister Rosario and her staff who have taught and coordinated the Irish Dancing for so many years. It is a beautiful tradition and we can’t thank you enough for continuing to pass that on.

M I

Dear Parishioners,

Welcome to our celebration of Palm Sunday! The first thing we will do as we gather for prayer is to take up palms and tell the story of how Jesus once came into the holy city, Jerusalem, riding over a carpet of branches, cheered by people waving branches.

At all of our liturgies this weekend, we will have the account of Jesus’ passion. Today marks the beginning of the days we call Holy Week.

During Holy Week, we will celebrate “Triduum” (which is Latin, for “three days”). We will be invited to enter into Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.

Clearly, the very best way to respond to the Passion is to live it and celebrate it in community. I encourage you to participate—to plan ahead this coming week so that the whole time from this Thursday night until the Easter Vigil is free of any social engagements; free from work, free from entertainment, and free from meals, except for the simplest nourishment.

These days should be free for prayer, reflection and silence. I hope everyone feels encouraged to gather together for these greatest days of celebration.

Here at Holy Infant, on Holy Thursday, at 7:00 p.m., we will gather in church to celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper— remembering what the Lord gave to us at his last supper—an example of service and a meal that would never end. Following this liturgy, all are invited to join us for our “Seven Churches Tour.”

On Good Friday at 1:00 in the afternoon in church, many of our 8th grade students will perform the Passion and Teachings of Jesus Christ. At 3:00 in the afternoon we will gather in church to journey with Christ through the Stations of the Cross. And at 7:30 in the evening, we will lift high the cross of Christ and honor it – not as a sign of defeat, but as our pathway for salvation.

And, finally, on Holy Saturday, at 7:30 in the evening, we will gather in the darkness of church so that the light of the risen Christ can penetrate our world and our hearts. On that night, we will go with all the newly baptized to wash ourselves in the life-giving waters of our Risen Lord.

I encourage you to mark your calendars now for Holy Week here at Holy Infant so that you can come and celebrate with us the holiest week in the life of our Church.

God’s blessings for a prayerful and blessed Holy Week!

D C ,A ! Conversion

As we read in the Acts of the Apostles, the Apostle Paul had a dramatic conversion to Christ. For many of us, however, conversion is gradual: “Vibrant Christians are made, not born. They are formed, not produced. Spiritual formation is a life-long process.” And the conversion of the world begins with us: The first culture that we need to transform is not the wider culture, but the culture of our own heart” (Archbishop Carlson).

Holy Sacrifice of the Mass

The message of Divine Mercy is that God is merciful. He is Love itself poured out for us and He wants no one to escape his merciful love. The promise of Mercy to Saint Faus na by Jesus grants complete pardon to souls (plenary indulgence) that will go to Reconcilia on and receive the Eucharist during Easter. The prayer is among the Catholic Church’s most popular prayers, and is meant to be said every day at 3:00 p.m. The chaplet uses a five decade rosary and asks for Mercy with a short prayer in each bead. Please begin the Novena to the Divine Mercy on Good Friday, April 3, 2015.

A copy of the Divine Mercy Novena is located at the ves bule. For more informa on please call Teresita La’O at 636-391-1997.

The Importance of Divine Mercy Sunday

Our Lord’s promise to grant complete forgiveness of sins and punishment on the Feast of Mercy is recorded three mes in the Diary of Blessed Faus na. Jesus tells her…..

I want to grant complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive the Eucharist on the Feast of Mercy (1109).

Whoever approaches the Fountain of Life on this day will be granted complete forgiveness of sins and punishment (300).

The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion will obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment (699).

Our Lord is emphasizing, through this promise, the infinite value of Confession and Communion as miracles of mercy. Think about it. He wants us to realize that, since the Eucharist is His own Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, it is the Fountain of Life (300).

Why would Our Lord feel the need to emphasize this? Because so many people do not really un-derstand it. They see no need to receive Holy Communion, or they receive it simply out of habit.

How painful it is to Me that souls so seldom unite themselves to Me in Holy Communion. I wait for souls and they are indifferent toward Me. I want to lavish

My graces on them and they do not want to accept them. They treat me as a dead object, whereas My Heart is full of love and mercy (1447).

So the Feast of Mercy is both a reminder and a call. It is a reminder that He is truly present and alive in the Eucharist, filled with love for us and wai ng for us to turn to Him with trust. It is a clear call for us all to be washed clean in His Love through Confession and Communion. No ma-ter how terrible our sins, God’s mercy is greater than them. God is not promising a single grace, but unlimited graces.

On that day, the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fountain of My mercy.

On that day, all the Divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened.

We Should observe the Feast of Mercy by:

• Celebra ng the Feast on the Sunday a er Easter • Sincerely repent of all our sins • Placing our complete trust in Jesus • Going to Confession, preferably before that Sunday • Receiving Holy Communion on the day of the feast • Venera ng the image of the Divine Mercy • Being merciful to others, through our ac ons, words and prayer on their behalf

Dear Priests, Deacons and Faithful of the Archdiocese of St. Louis,

On Good Friday, April 3, 2015, the annual collection for the Holy Land will be taken up in parishes throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis. I am requesting all parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Louis take up this collect on Good Friday in support of the Holy Land.

The Gospel message of compassion confirms the need for the Good Friday collection in support of our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. We must recognize how much the generous concern of Catholics around the world has already accomplished in this tumultuous area of the world. Our financial assistance supports the Holy Sites, but also those pastoral, charitable, educational and social works, which the Church supports in the Holy Land for the welfare of their Christian brethren and of the local communities.

More specifically, these resources come to the aid of families, often enhancing or saving the lives of the old, the sick, and the disabled. In addition, aid is provided to the unemployed and to youth that seek a brighter future.

I want to ask you for your generous support of the collection for the Holy Land on Good Friday, April 3, 2015.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson Archbishop of St. Louis

What is Jonah Prayer Ministry? It is a ministry of prayer for and with others, based at the parish level. Praying with

others helps to affirm our faith as a community; it opens the door for healing through the Holy Spirit and helps us experience joy through difficulty, perseverance and gratitude in all circumstances that life brings.

Jonah Prayer ministers are ordinary people who are approved by the pastor for this ministry. Those who serve have a calling to pray for others and to use their gifts given by the Holy Spirit. It is a ministry through which all can recognize the power of the Holy Spirit working in the lives of a parish community.

For those interested in joining the Jonah Ministry, there will be a training session on Saturday, April 18 at the Rigali Center from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Ebo Room. Contact Marty Scrima at (636) 891-9744 to obtain an application.

The solemnity of today’s readings invites us into silent contempla on of the mystery of our redemp on. There are so many levels on which to understand the events of the Passion. The woman who anoints Jesus acts prophe cally in a way that the other disciples do not yet grasp. Anoin ng is for priests, prophets, and kings, and also for the prepara on of the dead. It is for healing and for holiness. Her ac on acknowledges the imminent events of the passion and death of the Lord, and points toward his resurrec on and triumph over evil and death. He is priest and vic m, prophet and God, King and Lord. All these things are acknowledged in her prophe c anoin ng. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

To Holy Infant parishioners who have been attending the job search ministry meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at St. Clare of Assisi Parish with Pat Wells, please know these meetings have been canceled indefinitely. The last group meeting held at St. Clare was on Wednesday March 4. There will no longer be monthly meetings held effective immediately. There will not be a meeting on this Wednesday, April 1.

Instead, job search assistance will be offered on an individual basis providing one-on-one job search mentoring/coaching. If you are in between jobs or looking for a new opportunity, help is still available.

Holy Infant parishioner Randy Ewers will work in conjunction with St. Clare of Assisi to offer this assistance. It will be offered to anyone who has attended the St. Clare meetings and is familiar with Pat Wells. Please contact Pat at 314.443.0281; or email [email protected] or contact Gail Wolff at 314.402.3820 to set up an appointment.

For more information, contact Randy at 636.207.8858 or raewers@ gmail.com. You can also visit our website at: www.catholicemploymentnetwork.org. Anyone who has information about job openings please contact Randy so that these jobs can be posted in our newsletter. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
