TAV AIRPORTSGROUP

36 37

TAV Group was established in 1997, as a joint venture

between the major founding shareholders Tepe and Akfen

Groups following their successful bid for the Istanbul

International Airport International Terminal Contract.

Istanbul International Airport was one of the pioneering

airport privatization projects in the international market

executed under a ‘Build – Operate – Transfer’ (BOT) scheme.

TAV has become an established airport constructor and

operator in the past 18 years, not only in Turkey but also in

the international marketplace.

As one of the leading airport construction and operation

companies in Eastern Europe, North Africa, Middle-East

and Caucasus region, TAV has filled a major gap in the

aviation sector by providing integrated airport services,

from construction of airports to operating and financing of

airport projects. TAV is a holding company that operates 14

airports and has 7 service companies to provide full range

of airport services. ATU (duty-free), BTA (food & beverage),

HAVAS (ground handling), TAV IT, TAV Security, TAV Operation

Services and TAV Academy (training) are the service

companies bundled under the roof of TAV. TAV is the first

Turkish company to construct and operate an international

airport. Presence of the company is further enhanced by its

success in the international projects.

In Turkey, TAV Airports operate Istanbul Ataturk International

Airport (IST) through which 61.3 million passengers were

served in 2015. TAV also operates Ankara Esenboga Airport

(ESB), Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) and Gazipasa-

Alanya Airport (GZP) which handled 12.3 million, 12.1 million

and 915 thousand passengers respectively in 2015. Moreover,

TAV has fully taken over operations of Milas-Bodrum Airport

(BJV) as of October 2015, where 3.9 million passengers

were served. In the country of Georgia, TAV Airports operate

Tblisi (TBS) and Batumi Airports (BUS) serving 2.1 million

passengers in total. In Tunisia, Monastir (MIR) and Enfidha-

Hammamet Airports (NBE) are operated by TAV, serving 1.4

million passengers together. TAV’s Skopje (SKP) and Ohrid
