Brother Martin’s Walk On Nov. 10, 1874, in celebration of Martin Luther’s birthday, Thiel students and faculty planted more than 100 maple trees in two rows extending from College Avenue to Greenville Hall. This path has become

known as Brother Martin’s Walk. Campus legend says that if a couple walks the length of the path and kisses, they are destined to be married.

Roth Hall — Administration Building Named in honor of Thiel’s first and fourth presidents—the Rev. Dr. Henry Warren Roth and his younger brother, the Rev. Theophilus B. Roth. The President’s Office, Academic Affairs and College

Advancement offices are on the second floor. Human Resources and Academic Records offices are on the main floor.

Howard Miller Student Center (HMSC)On the ground level, you’ll find the dining hall and food court and Thielensian, Endymion and Student Government offices. The main floor is home to the College’s Student Life division, the College bookstore and post office and the Weyers-Sampson Art Gallery. Also in the HMSC is the Weyers Student Lounge; Friends of Art Reception Gallery,

Lutheran Heritage Room and Sawhill-Georgian Rooms for special events. The Public Safety Office is on the second floor.

David Johnson Memorial ChapelDedicated in May 2006, this nearly 7,000 sq.-ft. chapel is named in honor of the late son of Thiel Board of Trustees chairman emeritus Dr. Glen Johnson H’88 and his wife, LaVonne. The flexible, award-winning design seats 240 people and hosts a variety of religious services and events, such as musical concerts, on campus.

Langenheim Memorial LibraryOpened in 1952, the Library was given by sisters Flora E. and Gertrude Langenheim as a memorial to their parents Mr. & Mrs. Gustav C. D. Langenheim. The Library also is home to The Learning Commons. TLC provides academic guidance, tutoring services and career preparation for all students.

Greenville Hall One of Thiel’s architectural treasures, this historic building is home to the communication, English, history, religion and philosophy departments. In 1991, Greenville Hall was completely restored.

West Campus TownhousesConstructed in 2002, each of the 20 townhouses has three single bedrooms, one double bedroom and two bathrooms. They move students from traditional residence halls toward transitional living.

William A. Passavant Memorial CenterThiel’s 2,000-seat performing arts center is the home of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra. It is used for many major campus events, including commencement and convocation ceremonies.

William A. Robinson TheaterNamed for Dr. William A. Robinson, longtime professor of performing arts and director of the Thiel Players, the 7,500 sq.-ft. theater includes an open performance space, modern interior with telescopic seating

and flexible staging.

Academic Center/Rhodehouse Memorial Science Hall This five-level learning center serves the majority of Thiel’s academic departments. Most classrooms, laboratories and faculty offices are found here, including new neuroscience labs. The Kemper Lab, a

computer classroom, is located on the lower level. The Instructional Media Center is on the second floor. Bly Lecture Hall can be found in the first floor lobby.

Ballfields at Tomcat ParkLocated to the north of the Johnson Community Center, this park features the recently constructed softball and baseball fields. The inaugural softball season began in spring 2007 and the baseball season in spring 2008.

Glen Johnson Community CenterNamed in honor of Board of Trustees chairman emeritus Dr. Glen Johnson H’88, this facility is a state-of-the-art resource center with several flexibly configured, technologically enhanced classrooms and

meeting spaces available for College and community use.

Alumni Stadium/ Rissell-Schreyer DomeRissell-Beeghly Gymnasia

Alumni Stadium, with seating for 1,400 and all-year synthetic turf, is the first-ever on-campus multiseason and multisport athletic stadium at Thiel. During winter months, the field is covered by the inflatable Rissell-Schreyer Dome. The Thiel community has access to cardiovascular equipment, free weights and aerobic studio in the Paul Bush ’66 Fitness Center in the Rissell Gym. Basketball and volleyball teams compete

in the 1,500-seat Beeghly Gym on the lower level.

James Pedas Communication CenterNamed in honor of lead donor Dr. James Pedas ’50, H’89, the building was dedicated in the fall of 2014. It houses state-of-the-art computer labs, video editing equipment and collaborative spaces as well

classroom space and the Office of Admission.
