INTRODUCTION

In May of 1981,from the 14th to the 22nd, an exploration program consisting of line cutting, soil sampling and pulse electromagnetometer survey was conducted by Glen E. White Geo-

physical Consulting and Services Limited over a portion of the Boville Resources Limited BEV claim.

The main purpose of the survey was to detect and delin- eate any subsurface conductive unit which might relate to mag- netic and chargeability anomalies detected on previous geo- physical surveys.

PROPERTY

The BEV claim (Record Number 768) is comprised of 15 con- tiguous units as illustrated on Figure 1.

LOCATION AND ACCESS

The claim area is located approximately 40 kilometers northeast of 100 Mile House at latitude 51°56'N and longitude 12Oo52'W in NTS 92 P/15 and the Clinton Mining Division.

with Highway 97 approximately one-half mile north of 100 Mile House. property and local logging roads provide direct access to the claim area.

LOCAL GEOLOGY

The following geological description is copied from the B.C. assessment report number 4265 written by V. Cukor for

Aragon Explorations Limited on February 19, 1973. The area refered to in this report as the 'North Grid' includes the presently named BEV claim:

canic and sedimentary sequence of Nicola Group. The contact with a dioritic Takomkane Batholith is in the near vicinity of the property's west boundary. Major north-south fault structure, immediately east of the claims separates triassic deposits from jur- assic sediments.

distinguished on the property. Andesite is mostly green to dark grey-green, fine to coarse grained. In some locations, porphyritic texture is developed, with augite and pink feldspare phenocrysts in dark, fine grained matrix. Concentrations of large mag- netite crystals are observed locally in coarser var- ieties. Tuff usually appears as fine grained, light grey rock.

A number of small instrusive, possible sill- like bodies and dykes, have intruded volcanics. Com- position of these bodies varies from fine grained syenite, to medium grained diorite. The most sig- nificant variety is mafic intrusive rock, found in several locations along the North Grid (see Figure 6). Petrographic analysis was carried out by H.T. Carswell, and rock was described as lamprophyre. The general strike of the main zone seems to be NW-SE, with out- crops ranging in size from several feet to over 600 feet. This rock type is usually highly pyritized (visual estimate locally over 10% py), with fine to coarse grained pyrite, both as disseminations and fracture filling. Anomalous copper content in soil coincide with the outcropping of this rock type.

The strongest alterations were encountered in tuffaceous and andesitic rocks. Epidote and chlo- rite are widespread secondary minerals often accom- panied by biotite and sometimes sericite. Potas- sium feldspar, calcite and gypsum often appear as fracture fillings. These latest are often related to visible copper mineralization.

in some locations brecciated.

The most common sulphide minerals found so far, are pyrite and pyrrhotite, accompanied by chalcopy- rite and/or bornite, found as disseminations, blebs and small irregular stringers."

PREVIOUS WORK

The BEV claim covers an area previously staked as the SUN 1-10 and BET 1-8 claims. B.C. assessment reports 4265

and 4266 describe exploration work consisting of line cut- ting, soil geochemistry, trenching, magnetics and an induced polarization survey. The work was conducted during the 1972 field season and reported on in February 1973 and July 1973.

The magnetic and chargeability anomalies noted from

these surveys are illustrated on the pulse electromagnet- ometer interpretation map (Figure 51) of this report.

SURVEY GRID

Nine survey lines, oriented east-west, were established by compass and hip chain. Line spacing was set at 100 meters and stations were flagged at 2 5 meter intervals. A north- south trending tie line was cut and flagged to correspond to the strike and location of the major magnetic and chargea- bility anomalies across the area.

Correlation between this grid and the one established in 1972 is based on topographic and cultural features of the area.

GEOCHEMICAL SURVEY

Soil samples of the upper "B" horizon were taken wher- ever possible along the traverse lines at 50 meter intervals.

The soil samples were then placed in soil envelopes provided by Chemex Labs Ltd. of North Vancouver, B.C. The samples were then delivered to the above mentioned laboratory where -80 mesh sieving, digestion by hot perchloricnitric acid and analysis by atomic absorption were carried out under the sup- ervision of professional geochemists. tained and analyzed fo r ppm copper.

VECTOR PULSE ELECTROMAGNETOMETER SURVEY The pulse electromagnetometer system is a time

domain E.M. system which can be used in the borehole mode, standard horizontal loop mode or deep penetra- ting vector mode.

The primary field for the horizontal loop survey is obtained from a transmit loop 9 meters in diameter laid out horizontally on the ground and energized by a pulse of 20 amps at 24 volts with an on-off time of 10.8 or 2 1 . 6 ms. The receiver coil is generally spaced 25 - 100 m from the transmitter loop. Both are moved simultaneously from station to station. The secondary field signal from the receiver coil is sampled and averaged for 11 seconds and then stored for readout. Eight samples of the secondary field are obtained with increasing window widths during the primary field off time. Time synchronization is by radio link or cable.

The eight channels of secondary field information are equivalent to a wide spectrum of frequencies from approximately 2KHZ to 16H

tion of overburden. Since the time derivative of the secondary field is measured directly during the pri- mary field off time, the pulse method is relatively free of geometrical restrictions, such as topography interference and coil alignment.

obtained from a LSL '(Large Scale Loop) of 150 m (492 ft.) per side which is energized with a current of 25 amps at 24 volts. A resultant vector can be ob- tained by vector addition of the horizontal and ver- tical components of the secondary field. A right angle to this resultant points to the eddy current position. See Appendix for diagrams. Additionally, detailed conductor information can be obtained from the analysis

which allows for determina- Z

Eight line kilometers of pulse electromagnetometer sur- vey were conducted across the east-west oriented grid from five transmission loop locations. Loop A was positioned too close to the expected area and after a brief test was super- ceded by loop B. No VPEM responses were observed which can be interpretted as reflections of a large, conductive massive sulphide body. A number of weak conductivity anomalies are noted on the in- terpretation map (Figure 51). These responses are reflections of near surface, narrow and weakly conductive units. The conductive trend extending from line 8+00S station 0+25W to line 5+00S station 1+75E (Figures 21 to 28 inclusive) is the strongest VPEM anomaly noted across the survey grid. It is interpretted as the response to a near surface fault, likely made conductive from increased ground water content in the fault-stressed rock. Weak indications of a VPEM anomaly are noted on the east ends of lines 8+00S and 7+00S. (Figures 21 to 2 4 inclusive). The survey lines did not extend far enough east to completely define the VPEM response therefore the anomaly is considered to be of undetermined strength and reliability. However it is noted that this anomaly does cor- relate to the one-station copper geochemistry high of 810 ppm mentioned above.

Two parallel conductors are interpretted to follow clo- sely the major trends set by the chargeability and magnetic surveys (Figures 14, 16). The conductors are extremely weak, narrow and near surface. Another weak response is observed on line 2+00S at station 5+50W (Figure 50) which correlates to an increased copper content in the soil.

A couple of weak responses observed on line 3+00S (Fig- ures 31, 32) and line 8+00S (Figures 3, 4 ) are thought to rep- resent near surface minor faults.

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS

In May, 1981 Glen E. White Geophysical Consulting and Services Ltd. undertook a line-cutting, soil sampling and a test vector pulse electromagnetometer survey over the Boville Resources Ltd. Bev claim. A survey grid consisting of nine east-west trending survey lines, each 900 meters in length, and an 850 meter tie line was established and used as control to gather 123 soil samples and conduct 8.0 kilometers of vec- tor pulse electromagnetometer survey. The grid was centered upon a high chargeability and high magnetic anomaly due west of Beverly Lake.

A rough correlation was observed between high copper con- tent in the soils and high chargeability anomalies. In add- ition two areas due south of Beverly Lake exhibit anomalous geochemical values where no chargeability anomalies have been recorded.

No vector pulse electromagnetometer anomalies were ob- served which indicate the presence of any large, conductive, buried massive sulphide body. The responses observed reflect near surface, narrow and weakly conductive lenses or veins. Two parallel conductors coincident with the major magnetic and chargeability anomalies likely reflect two or more narrow pyrrhotite veins at or very near the surface. The strongest conductive response observed is interpretted as reflecting a near surface fault, presently mapped from line 8+00S, station 0+25W to line 5+00S, station 1+75E and considered open at both ends. Coincident copper soil geochemistry anomalies and weak pulse electromagnetometer responses occur at the south-east corner of the grid and on the west end of line 2+00S. The anomaly in the south-east corner of the grid is open to the

northeast, southeast and southwest and may extend in either direction.

Combining the results of the vector pulse electromagnet- ometer, induced polarization, magnetometer and geochemical surveys, the anomalies west and south-west of Beverly Lake are interpretted as reflecting a relatively large zone of finely disseminated sulphides. of sulphides (likely rich in pyrrhotite) are occasionaly ob- served within this larger disseminated sulphide area. Based on a previously conducted geochemical survey this anomalous area may extend north of Beverly Lake. No geophysical sur- veys are known to have been conducted in this area to iden- tify the source of the geochemical anomaly.
