Our ApproachThe BID Leicester Economic RecoveryPartnership will deliver a plan to drivethe economic recovery of the citycentre. The plan will be implementedusing BID Leicester funding. The group will work towards a smoothand sustainable reopening and long-term recovery of Leicester city centre. Working collaboratively, the group willidentify innovative methods tostrengthen the local economy, createopportunities for businesses and offerthe best possible experiences forpeople living in, working in and visitingLeicester.

Action Plan: ResponseOur immediate crisis response to the outbreak of Covid-19 centred on providing clear informationin uncertain times, supporting businesses whether they remained open or closed and planning forshort and long-term recovery.
Action Plan: ReopeningWe will help businesses in Leicester city centre reopen in a way that protects staff and customers.We will build public confidence that the city centre is a safe place to be, and attract customers backinto businesses.

ContinuedBID Leicester andLeicester City Councilenhanced street washingprogrammekeeping public areasclean, hygienic and safe.
City Intelligence
Gather intelligence oncity centre staffreturning to work. Usefootfall data to tracknumbers of visitors.Share data with LCC tomanage crowded areas &movement of people inthe city centre.
Flexibility
To provide advice andsupport to businesses tohelp deliver flexibilityand innovation inresponse to changingconsumer needs.Advocate for street caféextensions where viable.
Public Confidence
Public comms campaignto promote how citycentre has adapted. TheBID Leicester EconomicRecovery Partnershipdemonstrates co-ordinated approach tocity centre safety.
Action Plan: RecoveryAfter the initial reopening of businesses, we will work to promote the long-term recovery ofLeicester city centre through initiatives encouraging public confidence, promoting businesses andmaking our environment more attractive.
THE LEICESTER GIFT CARD
BID Leicester will launch a city centre gift cardscheme to lock in spend to the local economy,offering the public a choice of Leicester citycentre retail, leisure, food, drink andentertainment venues in which to redeem.
AUGMENTED REALITY VACANT UNITS PROJECT
Empty units in the city centre will be coveredwith a trail of artworks, moving the public aroundthe city centre as a leisure activity. Each unit willhave an AR element to encourage interaction.
INDEPENDENT LEICESTER
Continue to highlight and support independentbusinesses in the city through BID Leicester’sIndependent Leicester campaign, including theintroduction of the Independent Leicesterfestival and 'welcome back' public messaging.
NIGHT-TIME ECONOMY VIDEO PROMOTION
Launch a series of videos to promote the city’snight-time economy and celebrate our PurpleFlag status.
LOYALFREE
Continue to increase number of app users,businesses signed up and deals available.Promote the LoyalFree Marketplace - acommission-free platform supportingbusinesses to make online sales.
Action Plan: CommunicationsWe are working to build a clear and consistent message to reassure the public, visitors andworkers that we have sufficiently prepared for a safe and sustainable reopening.
